When customers who wish to travel from Town Hall QVB to White Bay Power Station, the bus must first commence in service from White Bay Power Station and essentially operate empty to Town Hall QVB. It would be more efficient if some of the current loop services were split into inbound & outbound trips respectively with regard to particular times of the day. This would also reduce the amount of buses required to fulfil the desired work. Also, buses could run not in service directly to Town Hall QVB from Leichhardt Depot in the afternoon on selected days.
It fathoms me the brains behind this. If anything it should be a shuttle that should run as required. A 2 minute frequency, while great in theory, is useless if you expect people to pay with the archaic boarding regimes we have in this city.

U-Go Mobility has its Bustech CDis out on Wynyard - North Sydney rail replacement services today. First time I can recall a current generation double decker on such a service in Sydney.

Doesn’t Port Stephens Coaches sometimes send their deckers on rail? Still counts if it’s going into Sydney.

Let’s hope there’s more to come in future replacements, especially if U-Go can do it and Transit Systems with there bendy buses, CDC, Busways and Transdev should all pitch in to help move people during rail replacement. No reason why they can’t when demand is there and those buses already have opal in them.

Possibly, but have never seen it.

Busways and Transdev have both used artics in recent rail replacements, again this was unheard of until recently.

Hopefully its a start for future trackwork to use high capacity buses where possible. I wonder if the current government had any role forcing the operators to use their high capacity buses?

I wonder why U-go was asked too out of all companies, thought CDC would bring it out

Its an operational matter between TfNSW and the operators, doubt the government would be getting involved.

There was a theory that the operators of the metropolitan service bus contracts would become responsible for rail replacements in their area as part of the contracts signed in the past couple of years. Hasn't played out that way, on the weekend just gone Harbour Bridge replacement services were being operated by Transdev and U-Go, one earlier in the year by Busways and another by Punchbowl. Appears individual contracts are awarded for each shutdown,

Or free up some buses for a massive rail replacement contract.......

Bus marshals in Park Street in the city were this afternoon directing passengers boarding region 6 and 7 services to enter via the front door only rather than by both front and rear. No obvious kerbside obstruction, drivers appeared a bit perplexed as passengers, appears they didn't get the memo either.

^ The respective damage to both buses does not look that bad as far as the physical external appearance looks compared to what happened to 2724 ST on Church St, Ryde in 2019. That particular bus was off the road for many months whilst undergoing extensive rebuilding of the rear of the bus. The cost of the repair work was justified as the bus was only four years old out of an expected 25 year life span as a government bus.

1531 still has a few years remaining before reaching the maximum retirement age although this may be an opportunity to withdraw a B12 to be used as a parts donor bus much like when B10BLE 3942 was withdrawn last year and stored at Leichhardt to be used as a parts donor.

Withdrawn while repairs take place but not forever, lots of buses has been in accidents and come back to life.

Wouldn't Custom Bus just tell Transit Systems and U-GO we can do a retrofit a Endeavour front to these buses as we haven't manufactured the CB60 since 2011

Although they haven't manufactured that model since 2011, they probably have stocks of spare panels to cover such events.

Not necessarily the case, depending on multiple things it could be done by insurance, it can be in-house job where they fix themselves or send it to repair workshops likes Wales. They could send it to custom but there are several factors that determine who and what gets done. Who gets it done may have spares or can make it. Time will tell what we see.

More mention of the two bus crash in Campsie on Seven News this afternoon. Looks like a medical episode with the driver of TSA mo1531 was behind it. They showed CCTV footage of mo1531 mounting the kerb as it took a corner beforehand.
The front of the Volvo B12BLE took quite a smack!

I imagine between the 1000+ CB60 bodies out there in service, that barely a month goes by without a new front end going on one somewhere.

Not every accident warrants a news story, and there are numerous minor bungles happening regularly.

I dare say Customs make a fortune out of selling replacement panels and parts on an ongoing basis.

Just further to the Bus incident 20/3/24, Channel 9 Sydney News 6pm, 21/3/24, showed the Bus on Route 410 failed to make a Righthand Turn into Fifth Avenue and instead continued travelling on Seventh Avenue until the incident.
