Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
Toowong doesn’t really need any of Sherwood’s B8s
Historically I think they’ve had 160-180 buses, if we assume all B8s except Sherwoods are transferred (around 105), then Toowong has 105+66 MANs = 171 buses.
It doesn’t seem like they need more, unless their responsibilities have grown. They’re the biggest they’ve been in recent years right now!

Expect a final number closer to 185BT Enthusiast wrote:Toowong doesn’t really need any of Sherwood’s B8s

Yep also saw yesterday a naked 1652 with no wrap and no depot prefix
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
Will new diesel/diesel-hybrid buses be coming to Brisbane in the coming months? Some of my friends who work in related a manufacturer have disclosed this information, indicating that a great number of Scania Hybrid buses are heading to Queensland.

If something big was in the works, you can bet either the State or Council would be beating their drums about it given both have elections looming on the horizon.

Hopefully these are Bustech ones, I reckon these will be going to a private operator as TFB seems to only go with Volvo these days.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
Wild mass guessing here, but given that Bus Queensland has nil electric buses or even hybrids, and the fact they often go for Scania, maybe it's them?
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
I saw some W buses are now equipped with digital mirrors while conventional mirrors have been removed.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
But hopefully, they will roll out to every bus in the coming months.

The bus with digital mirrors.

Another bus crashed into the Graceville bridge today,
Does anyone know which one it is?

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
It was W1493. Looks like a good chunk of roof has been ripped off too.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
The first example (in recent times) of an 18.310 crashing into it; usually B7RLEs are its hapless victims. Do you think it'll be repaired given that 18.310s aren't exactly first class citizens of TFB anymore?

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
I think it will depend on the extent of the damage - especially to the gas cylinders as those are not cheap to replace. From the photos I saw, it looked like it got off lightly compared to the B7s that have gone under.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
Have heard from Eagle Farm leadership team that the Gold Cityglider is confirmed and in the works to commence early next year, operated by E.
There was also a rumour that it would be operated by articulated B8’s, although that seems pretty unlikely and isn’t viable.
This was a rumour a few years ago but I have not heard anything recent or seen any evidence that Tfb and Translink are planning to launch this service? Especially as a Gold Cityglider service wasn’t mentioned or announced on the new bus network plan whatsoever.

On page 9 of the document "Brisbane's New Network Draft - October 2022", the following is noted:
Council is proposing a new service, the Gold CityGlider, connecting Northshore Hamilton
to Woolloongabba, subject to a joint funding agreement with Translink.

2831 is now surprisingly at S… spotted today with S decals everywhere
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
I saw the eBus that usually runs on route 30 doing the R599 run at Toowong today.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
Are you sure it wasn’t a very similar bus from Transdev Capalaba? As fair as I know BCC doesn’t do any rail replacement.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
Yeah it must have been the Transdev one.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
So I’ve just come across S5102 and S5100 doing a 140 and 150 respectively both still with S signage. 5102 also did a 140 outbound run yesterday arvo. Does anyone know if this is just shift covers or are they transferring more to possibly Garden City/Willawong from Sherwood?

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
S5102 is now W5102 (saw it yesterday with S decals in the morning, W decals by afternoon), so it's only just made the move in the last few days.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2023
In case it wasn't already confirmed earlier, W1425 is another bus with the Willawong technology upgrade.
