Trailerbus
Re: Trailerbus
To avoid any argument it may be best to register it as a trailer and install the seats on private property where people can check it out stationary.

Trailerbuses would only cost $500,000 each and could leave every 15 minutes for Newcastle with big seats with a good view up top and able to take electric bikes, mobility scooters and strollers on the lower deck for use to the final destination.
With auto prime movers, Opal cards, cameras, speed limiting, ABS, stability control, air brakes and a fixed turntable they should be made legal and bang for the buck is what we need to reduce inflation.
Eddy,
You have become a financial/purchasing and ordering wizard.
From a cost of $500,000 in February 2023 (see your post above) to a now reduced cost of $250,000 (your post of 8 December 2023), I can only say - wow, how did you save 50% in such a short time. Did you originally over-estimate?

The prime mover =$250,000 the Trailerbus = $250,000 so I may have been talking about the whole unit.

Re: Trailerbus
That would be a thing that could get attention off workcover for a OH&S violation if a member of the public gets hurt at the depot during the pubic inspection of the trailer bus
Re: Trailerbus
Mate, it is nearly impossible to get innovation in Australia, even a law that makes you wear a hat when you have the same chance of a head injury at 20 km/h as walking.Campbelltown busboy wrote: ↑Sun Dec 10, 2023 2:52 pmThat would be a thing that could get attention off workcover for a OH&S violation if a member of the public gets hurt at the depot during the pubic inspection of the trailer bus

Re: Trailerbus
Australia is a backwater in so many ways. Our export profile is plain pathetic reliant on stuff that happens to be underground through sheer happenstance, the brain drain overseas because there's no support for inventions and new ideas, we're very conservative only wanting to stick with established ways of doing things here.
Absolute weakness that we'll pay for.

Re: Trailerbus
Your link merely demonstrates the stupidity of the internet. It's quite clear that your posts have been interpreted by someone at that website as being "serious consideration" whereas in fact trailerbus is just one man's fantasy as are both Parrahub and the rail tunnel. This demonstrates why it is more than high time these topics were all moved to the fantasy section where they belong.

Great too see you support free speech. As long as it's mostly contained in this thread, I don't see the harm.
You know what to expect with the title. Just don't enter the chat.

I don't object to the thread, just to its location.

I like you ,Swift and PG1 and I do not want to start trouble between you all.
Because nobody seemed to know what to do I said to use a Trailerbus on the electric thread which was quickly deleted by Fleet Lists as being in the wrong thread.

This is confusing so you want people to be able to take their bikes on the bus where would the bikes go if they are actually in the buseddy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 11:10 amObviously you do not ride a bike mate or you would see the problem.Campbelltown busboy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 10:49 am Who looks at the fantasy section and he wants his threads to get views. Re: Trailerbus
Yep, it allows riders to use their bikes at each end of the trip across town without being a being a pain in the arse to truck/bus drivers.Campbelltown busboy wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 11:41 amThis is confusing so you want people to be able to take their bikes on the bus where would the bikes go if they are actually in the bus
How many bikes etc. depend on how many seats on the lower deck I just drew 3 bikes and one mobility scooter on my Sketchup.

This is the email I sent to bustaskforce today.
As Volvo has just built a trailer for the fire brigade in Canberra they may build a Trailerbus
Trailerbus on your phone. https://app.sketchup.com/share/tc/north ... source=web
It can take bikes and mobility scooters and with 1,000 kilometer range due to extra batteries can replace the XPT with more frequent routes.

Re: Trailerbus
Agree, the trailerbus is no more relevant to New South Wales than any other state, the Armchair Operators and Fantasy Networks is a far more appropriate place for this and the Parrahub thread in the General Transport section.1whoknows wrote: ↑I don't object to the thread, just to its location.
Re: Trailerbus
As it can be used in NSW to allow people to put their bikes on to use at the other end I think the Sydney thread is ok.Linto63 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 10:12 amAgree, the trailerbus is no more relevant to New South Wales than any other state, the Armchair Operators and Fantasy Networks is a far more appropriate place for this and the Parrahub thread in the General Transport section.1whoknows wrote: ↑I don't object to the thread, just to its location.

Re: Trailerbus
You really want another Parrahub thread in the fantasy section I counted at least 8 to 10 Parrahub threads there over a 10 year period between 2012 and 2021 you can add the Parrahub thread in the general discussion to thatLinto63 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 10:12 amAgree, the trailerbus is no more relevant to New South Wales than any other state, the Armchair Operators and Fantasy Networks is a far more appropriate place for this and the Parrahub thread in the General Transport section.1whoknows wrote: ↑I don't object to the thread, just to its location.
Re: Trailerbus
This is what I replied to them this morning.
There are a few other points I would like to make if you bear with me.
Impossible to rollover with the lower centre of gravity which at 4.3 m allows it general access.
Gets bikes off main roads apart from being a nuisance are dangerous to the rider.
Can take mobility scooters which we will all use as we get old.
With safe 30 km/h backroads kids can ride to the Trailerbus and then to their school or sport saving buses on backroads and keeping kids healthy.
With the driver not being distracted he is less likely to have an accident.
There must be cameras everywhere and if the driver notices trouble brewing he turns on a blue light on the back and keeps driving until police render assistance.
Mercedes just built a trailer for the Canberra fire mob so they may build a prototype with the possibility of more.
With extra batteries it would have a range of 1,000 km and may even replace the XPT with faster and cheaper fares to more places.

The Brigade bought a new vehicle based on a Volvo electric chassis, and it was delivered from Brisbane on a standard low-load trailer hauled by an electric Volvo prime mover.
