Hi everybody,
I am hoping this is a simple question!
I have just taken ownership of an ex-Transperth Mercedes-Benz O405NH, so very excited!
I have a question regarding securing the doors.
I know that you can open and close the doors externally when there is air in the lines, but when the air is released, the doors freely by pushing on them, which is understandable.
Does anybody have any ideas on how I can add a key lock to the doors so you can't just open them? I have attached photos of the actual doors, and hoping somebody has some ideas.
The front door has a wheelchair ramp at the bottom, so screwing into the bottom is a no go.
Thanks in advance!

Window and patio household hardware locks work well from the inside in securing 3 out of the 4 door halfs and one on the outside for initial access if you want a clean look . Or you can go the cheap n ugly lap shash and padlock on outside . There is many options, but depends on how much you want to spend , if you want good locking with reduced visual impact . Or straight out locking brutalictic simplicity, that choice is up to you . A trip to bunnings is a good starting point .

A visit to a good locksmith (not Mr Minit!) would probably get some good suggestions too.
They could fabricate a solution, whereas Bunnings are usually only interested in selling what they have on the shelf at the time.

Thanks all!
I will have a good look at the bunnings options.
Does anyone know if it is possible to convert them from air powered to electronic?

Well, the fleet number is hard to see from the angle the photo was taken, but looks like it may be 1835. This used to be part of Path Transit's fleet when it still had the monopoly over all northern suburbs routes back in the day.

Re: Securing O405NH Doors
Need all new mechanisms to convert to electric. What you could do is rig up a button that dumps the air from the doors and then another one to repressurise them (like what Brisbane Transport's old Volvo's could do. Basically the emergency door release, instead of just opening the doors, as 1835's does, dumps the air out of the door system. On the door control panel in the cab, a seperate button will re-energize the doors to allow them to operate normally)enzomatrix wrote: ↑Sun Nov 21, 2021 9:31 pm Thanks all!
