Hopefully it will go to Skygate as well. It would ensure constant growth in patronage, by linking a 24 hour precinct and the Airport with the Valley CBD and The Gabba.

Don't fret- it seems to have been put together without too much thought, similar to the Maroon CityGlider. We won't be getting any more Volgrens delivered and all the ones we do have in the fleet have 2 sets of doors (with around 130 of those being double-leaf back doors). I've already had a rant on RBoT about the proposal, so I'll keep this thread (semi) positive (if anyone actually has any positive thoughts on it aside from the long awaited high frequency service to Hamilton)...

There is not much population in the catchment and the areas with population already have services (234 and 300).
This is glorified waste of resources instead of upgrading routes 234 and 300.

There is perhaps an element of marketing to these sorts of things, whether they be the 900-series routes in Perth (with the "special criteria" for renumbering that goes with that), GoZones in Adelaide, or the aforementioned BUZ initiative in Brisbane, but what happens as service planning or the communities' needs change? Services get cut back, yet the branding often remains, creating inconsistency. In some cases, the routes are renumbered (again) because they conflict with the ideology of their numbering.
It would be better to just provide the improved service without all the pomposity that accompanies it: if a bus is frequent, and goes somewhere useful, people will use it. Many travellers use phone apps (or more traditional means) to get way-finding information and will follow the information they are provided anyway; they're none-too-concerned with what colour the bus is, the number on the destination, or even what fuel it uses.
None of that is to say, though, that service improvement should be done without consideration for its broader impact on a network. Complementing or conflicting services might need alterations made, to support the improvement of another route operating in the vicinity.

That's why it should go to Skygate to cater for Airport precinct workers along with linking people to the free Skygate terminal bus. This will ensure passenger growth into the future. Indeed. The Maroon WasteGlider is another wonderful example of this. Nothing but sheer politics to slap a heavily branded bus into the network when a simple re-jig of resources would improve services much, much more.
There is no need for this "Gold Glider". Just increase the frequency of the 300 or have the 305 run to Northshore Hamilton full-time. Problem solved. It sounds like nothing but a bit of Fools Gold to me!

This will allow for patronage growth from Skygate and the Airport precinct catchment, as well as connecting the proposed athletes village at Hamilton Northshore.
It also has the potential to connect day tourists and commuters alike from the Airport precinct to the ferry stop at Hamilton Northshore.

Yes, Cazza would like bus reform. It's coming when Metro services are due to begin.
I like the concept of Glider services. They are colour coded and easily identifiable for both commuters and casual users. They mimic proposed (underground metro) routes with the span of operating hours to match. This is why the patronage growth is so strong and remains popular with the travelling public.

Yeah, they need to sort that out. I heard BAC may run an electric shuttle from Skygate similar to that of the Terminal Transfer buses. Exactly. The Blue CityGlider is Brisbane's second busiest route, not because it has a cool looking blue skin, but because it serves a high density, inner-city corridor. The Maroon WasteGlider is up there in the Top 20 busiest routes pre-COVID (barring in mind, game days at both Suncorp and the Gabba would help that figure significantly) because it services high density, inner city areas. However, with the MaroonGlider, it was just been slapped onto of the existing network and now duplicates so many other routes. Only 6 out of its 17 bus stops didn't have a BUZ service already stopping there, with a further 2 of those 6 within walking distance (350m) of a 385 BUZ stop (a simple re-jig of the 385 stopping pattern through Paddington would have solved this) and another 3 of those remaining 4 already had at least the bare minimum of 4bph off-peak and 2bph weekends. There was only 1 bus stop that the Maroon Glider serviced that didn't already have a frequent, CBD-bound service within walking distance (being Jubilee Tce). It's just the epitome of politics.
A simple rejig of existing services would have achieved a much better outcome without having to subsidise $6 million/year for this waste of resources. It's nothing but politics at it's finest. I suspect that this (Fool's)Gold Glider will fall into this same category. I don't see any changes coming to the 60 (Blue Glider), 300, 305 or any other Ann/Wickham St routes. Plus, it'll run through the heavily congested (for a few hours each day) city core for it then to be a ghost town outside of business hours.
Rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic is the situation we are in. These band-aid "solutions" stuck with blue-tac onto a completely broken, unintegrated and wasteful network will not last long or do anyone any favours. We need a proper review of the network, not some $94,000 feasibility study to determine that, yes, Hamilton does in fact need a frequent bus route.
