* Prior to 2015, the X24 used to operate from Circular Quay in alignment with routes 324 & 325 which used to use Circular Quay as the City terminus. In Transit wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 7:19 pm Alternatively, why run an X24 at all? It would be a lot simpler for passengers if they just ran more 324's on the day, and probably more useful too. They probably wouldn't even be needed (if at all) from the city, but instead only from Edgecliff Interchange.
I'd wager the reason the X24 is running is because it ran before, and someone has simply done a cut and paste of previous years. Similarly, why does it run from Circular Quay, instead of having common stops with the 324/5 in the city? Probably because that's what it has done before, and no one updated it when the 324/5 were altered in the CBD some years ago.
It's not been unusual for STA to accidentally resurrect defunct routes for special event services (or to not incorporate recent route changes), presumably because someone just copied and pasted last year's special event plan.
* The Sydney CBD bus network changes on 4/10/2015 caused routes 324 & 325 to be rerouted via Town Hall & Wynyard to a new terminus at Walsh
Bay. The X24 was also rerouted to commence from Wynyard (York St) to align with routes 342 & 325.
* The X24 was rerouted back to Circular Quay as the City terminus in 2016.
Route X24 should just operate between Edgecliff Interchange & Watsons Bay, the passenger loadings at Edgecliff Interchange are much higher compared to the Sydney CBD, this is also evident on weekends during the Summer season for routes 324 & 325 hence the additional timetabled services added in recent years.
I have one example of a defunct route that was resurrected: route 183 was scheduled to operate additional early morning trips from Narrabeen to Wynyard for Anzac Day 2018. Route 183 was withdrawn due to the New Northern Beaches Bus Network & B-Line implementation on 26/11/2017.
Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
Major changes are coming to Waverley depot prior to the transition to Transdev John Holland.
The Oxford St exit gates will be permanently closed in the coming weeks to allow Transport for NSW and Waverley City Council to continue the bike lane project all the way through to York Rd. Some depot space will be acquired for the project as well.
This will result in traffic lights been installed at the York Rd exit and a new bus only light installed to assist with the right turn into Oxford St.
This morning the new yard plan was tested out and will continue to be fine tuned in the coming weeks.
On the ZEB front, sadly (3122) and (3123) appeared with ads on them on Monday despite not been in service yet. They're expected to be in service late next week.
One of the to be delivered Element's was today on the Northern Beaches and visited Mona Vale depot briefly.

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
Any update on charging for the ZEBs.
Any loss of parking for York Rd exit?
I can only assume a dedicated bus York /Oxford signal is going to cause some traffic issues.

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
Chargers were commissioned on Thursday. There is currently 8 (6 outdoors and 2 in the workshop) with another terminal still to be installed.
This is a contentious issue. There will be approx 18 car parks lost with the introduction of the traffic lights and around 10 spots inside the depot lost.
The York Rd into Ocford St signals are going to exasberate the traffic issues around the area, especially around 7am-8am and 2.30pm-4pm.

Those bike lanes on Oxford St are a gift that just keeps on giving.
If they ever actually get finished they'll be great for cyclists too.. but at the current rate of progress you'd think they were building light rail down Oxford St.

Custom-Denning Element (3123) officially entered service this afternoon - Opal enabled and ads on the near and offsides

There are now 6 Custom Denning Elements at Waverley (3121-3126). 3122 has now been wrapped in the electric livery, but the others are yet to receive the same treatment.
For those who don't use Facebook or perhaps don't follow the HCVA on Facebook, there will be an STA Farewell tour this Sunday. It departs from BJI at 9:30am and will include a B10, B12, O500 and an Electric. Tickets at https://www.trybooking.com/events/landi ... Ie8BlW97lY

State Transit has nearly completed the debranding of the region 9 fleet ahead of the transfer to Transdev John Holland in a few weeks. Of the 50 or so buses I saw today, only one retained its roofline stickers.

I didn't see a single bus with Sta on the roofline today I saw approximately 100 sta buses on Oxford St and surrounding areas although a few looked tatty now
Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
Waverley's 2260 still out and about with State Transit roofline stickers. Maybe it has been nominated for official duties when the handover occurs?
Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
From a local FB group, someone had a bad day with the 311.
"I really feel sorry for the bus driver who was driving the 311 bus this afternoon. He took a wrong turn and ended up in the tunnel heading back to the city at Woolomooloo. Then he tried to take a short cut to get back to where he was and he ended up on the harbour bridge.
I’ve forgiven. But it is something I will probably never forget."
Thankfully seems most passengers took it pretty well, but you have to have made a couple of bad decisions to end up on the bridge.

It is interesting to note from the fleet list that electric buses 3121 to 3128 have matching xxxxST plates but the last one 3129 has rego m/o 8455.

(3130) doesn't have a matching plate as they are produced in batches of 15 and the remaining 14 would not be used.

Re: STA Observations 2021-2022
The last State Transit service tomorrow night has been determined to the Route 370 service from Coogee to Glebe Point at 00:00. It is my understanding that two former State Transit vehicles that once frequented the 370 will follow this last service.

Probably just the fact that State Transit in it's various forms operated for just on 90 years.
