Transdev advises that not only will Chadstone have a shuttle but Essendon DFO will have one as well.

Route 903 will skip those destinations on November 27.

They state that information is on the PTV website but I couldn't find it.
See here PaxInfo, service just started today. I think CDC Oakleigh #142 is running the service today based on tracking. The Transdev one is more interesting though, at least 2 Custom Coach 550's are running the service today.

Thanks. The interesting thing is that PTV aren't disclosing what Transdev is saying on its website, ie 903 is skipping the DFO & Chadstone stops today.

Looking at the traffic jams on this afternoons news I would think that Chadstone is a very good place to avoid for buses & anyone else.

From Monday 14 December the Rowville Telebus service will be replaced by a FlexiRide service.

https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/footer/about ... -rowville/

The article gives no indication of what type of vehicle will be used on the service.

Also no mention of whether the Telebus surcharge will be scrapped and acceptance of myki (presumably yes to both), how much notice needs to be given to book a trip or any route number so it can be looked up on the PTV website. Online booking unfortunately requires an app rather than being integrated with the PTV website.

Of interest is that it's a trial, though the period is unspecified. Which gives leeway to reconsider the whole idea, and possibly pursue wider network reform involving 681, 682 & others, afterwards.

Has been given the special designation of Route 700. So if you go here you can see the timetable for it, but only if you click Download Timetable, as looking at the timetable listed on the mainpage shows that buses run in the middle of night, which obviously doesn't make sense.

Interestingly there are two or three entries for each time so presumably there are multiple buses.

Journey time is 7 to 8 minutes which is unlikely to be sufficient on the busier days.

I think the times are put in just for the sake of the journey planner, so I'm guessing the operator has been
told just to run the best service they can with the buses they're using.

Re the Rowville FlexiRide, there's some Q&As on PTV's Facebook page.

https://www.facebook.com/publictranspor ... 059840861/

These confirm it uses myki.

Ventura's website hasn't yet been updated to mention it and their live tracking still has links to maps for the (now defunct) Telebus 7, 8, 9. https://www.venturabus.com.au/live-tracking?type=5

Finally, the 742 will be moved to a more appropriate location as opposed to being dumped in a busy side street on the wrong side of Eastland Shopping Centre. The Eastland terminus only made sense between 1988 and the 2010s until Plaza Centre Way was converted into a carpark when Eastland was rebuilt.

Two more annoyances with the 742 (hopeless 40-60 minute timetables aside) are the short services that end at Heatherdale, leaving 40-minute gaps at Ringwood (Eastland) during morning peak, and the timing point at the same location, which only made sense when there was a level crossing and the bus would invariably get stuck there anyway. Removing the timing point at Heatherdale would make the bus easier to connect with the75 tram at Vermont South, as it has a habit of missing the tram by mere seconds at night (not to mention the 200m walk from Hanover Rd to the tram stop, which also includes two impossibly-slow pedestrian crossings). Too many times I've caught the last or second last 742 to Vermont South, on time, only for the tram to leave when I've got to the lights on Burwood Highway because it's timed to leave 1-2 minutes after the 742 arrives. On a Sunday night, that means a half an hour wait for the next tram, and on any other day it isn't much better being every 20 minutes.

Nothing to do with the 742, but it would be nice if a myki top-up machine could be added to the Vermont South tram terminus, especially given that bus drivers can no longer do top-ups. Maybe the idjits in charge still think the trams have Metcard machines inside them...

Edit: Fixed grammar. Also wrong year's thread but anyway...
