Launceston now 100% low floor

Post by tasstockau »

As of this week Metro Tas Launceston operation is now 100% low floor.

Bustech 850 completed the Launceston allocation of new vehicles in late October replacing 188.

Since then 8 vehicles transferred from Hobart to replace the remaining Ansair build Scanias in Launceston.

601, 603, 615, 627 and 639 noted in service in Hobart with 602 (withdrawn) and 616 also on hand in the south. 605 is reported for sale in Launceston along with 188.

605 holds the record for the longest serving municipal/government bus in Launceston at 25.5 years and had a period in service in Hobart prior to that.

as 191 now also withdrawn in Hobart, 601 and 603 will be the final VOV2 Scanias in service. With school holidays now upon us, they also may well have operated their last trips.

852,854 and 856 (next to be delivered - which should make Burnie 100% low floor) are the Burnie allocation of Bustechs with 857 - 899 scheduled to come to Hobart to replace the remaining Oranas in the fleet.
