Not sure if this was ever discussed, but Regional Buses had a newish service for several month now, operating out of Holbrook

HOLBROOK→ ALBURY and HOLBROOK→ WAGGA WAGGA

Regional Buses partners Matthew Kane and Allan Ofak are proud to launch our new service linking various communities in the eastern side of Greater Hume Council with Albury and Wagga, commencing on July 1 2019.
There are three different services operating on different days of the week. The services are designed to provide new links from those towns to Albury and Wagga, but also allowing passengers to travel between the different towns

Days of Operation & Routes:

1. Mondays and Wednesdays: Holbrook-Morven-Culcairn-Gerogery-Gerogery West-Albury and return.
2. Tuesdays and Thursdays: Holbrook-Morven-Culcairn-Henty-Yerong Creek-The Rock-Uranquinty-Wagga and return.
3. Fridays: Holbrook-Woomargama-Mullengandra-Albury and return.

(No service on weekends and New South Wales public holidays)

Hours of Operation:

The services operate a return trip as listed above on each day.

Approximate timetables:

The services above operate as a booked door to door service.The approximate timetables are therefore dependent on the bookings received each day and the time taken to do each pick up and drop off. Regional Buses provide a confirmation service by text or phone each evening giving our passengers the exact pick up and drop off times and locations for the services booked.

If there are no bookings for towns on different days the bus will either travel through that town or bypass that town to provide a quicker service for our valued passengers.



Service area:

Pick ups and drop offs are available at our passengers requests in each town listed above and up to four kilometres around each town.

Pick ups and drop offs are available at any location within the Albury and Wagga City boundaries.

Additionally we can also pick up and drop off up to four kilometres either side on the following roads on the days shown.

Mondays and Wednesdays:

- Holbrook-Culcairn Road.
- Olympic Highway between Culcairn and Gerogery.
- Old Olympic Highway between Gerogery and Albury.

Tuesdays and Thursdays:
- Holbrook-Culcairn Road.
- Olympic Highway between Culcairn and Wagga.

Fridays:
- Hume Freeway between Holbrook and Albury.

Albury and Wagga City Transfer Service:

An additional feature of the services are our City Transfer Service.

An example is a passenger who has an appointment at Wagga Base Hospital at 10.00am. We will drop off there and after the appointment has finished at 11.00am the bus will return and drop the passenger off at Sturt Mall at 11.10am. This service is included in the fare and allows passengers with multiple destinations a convenient way to travel in Albury and Wagga.

The service operates as a door to door service from within the service area to Albury / Wagga. The service requires a booking to operate.

Seems that that some of the services have introduced extra hubs and in the case of at least one service additional hours in response to the current pandemic e.g. the Northern Beaches, and Edmonston Park services. Would anyone care to speculate on just what actually is happening to drive these changes? Is there actually an increased demand to go to shopping centres or are they adding extra hubs to try and solicit extra custom since commuter travel has dropped off?

In general, suburban shops and shopping centres have seen a moderate uptick in business due to the large numbers of people working from home, and thus visiting their local shopping centres, compared to shopping in their lunch hour in the CBD(s). CBD shopping has drastically dropped although with some uptick in recent weeks. I'm not sure if this is enough to justify bus changes, but it's plausible.

This is likely to assist with social distancing measures to hopefully help spread passenger loads evenly across services and not COVID-19!

Unfortunately most people have become complacent leading up to Christmas and so the latter has been spread instead
