I'm sure I've seen a system somewhere that has tram tracking where they run on line of sight.Randomness wrote: ↑Sun Feb 04, 2024 9:22 pm The real time position updates as a tram arrives at a stop except from Hay Street to Central where it’s approximations. I’d guess it’s because the street section works on Line of Sight compared to the railway section which uses signals. The only information you get is journey number.

It seems to work all OK or the L2 and L3 so there must be a more to it than that

The L2/L3 uses a different system to the L1. Feedback from Transdev about L1 signage and information is "we don't really care, put up with it".

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
They know demand is through the roof on L1 such is the thirst for public transport services our leaders refuse to meet properly. We've finally got extra trams they've been crying out for years as demand had not been met.
Real time tracking is a fanciful indulgence here, where it's not going to be needed to encourage more patronage.

Re: Inner West Light Rail observations
My L3 services normally run every 8-10 minutes, so I don’t worry too much about having to wait. But RTT does tell if there are problems that might be delaying or shutting down services. This gives me the opportunity to look for alternatives if my trip is time sensitive.
