I’m pretty sure that most trips on both lines are now timetabled for between 32 and 34 minutes, with 33 being most common.

This hasn’t stopped the trips from usually ballooning out to over 35 minutes on most occasions

Are they still insisting on opening all doors automatically? Any talk of reinstating individual door operation?

Drivers are still opening and closing the doors, but I've noticed that if there is a delay, say, waiting for traffic lights a short distance ahead, the doors are left in manual mode until the tram is ready to move off. Late-comers can push the button to get on.

Really funny you mention that Boronia because I noticed that today too, QVB - they closed the doors, left in manual for a while, someone else was running (power walking) to the tram, the driver didn’t open all doors for them automatically but rather turned pointed to the flashing door button.

Passenger pressed it, said thanks, door closed again a second later. See, that wasn’t so bad hey?

That’s nice, I don’t like to read too much into things but if it’s a brief foreshadow they want to remind people of the functionality plus it makes a full comeback sometime later that would be very welcome, because I found the aircon quite lacking this past summer on the trams. Summer 2019-2020 with manual doors it was perfect.

There was also another night recently where it was very late one or the last services at Moore Park, opposite the service I was on, no one on the platform or that tram and driver didn’t bother opening them all automatically (manual mode instead).

I just wonder why at the termini stops they insist on leaving all of them open (and that’s definitely not a Corona thing, they did that before the pandemic too as far as I remember)

Just bring it back already. People have to touch other surfaces anyway. Surely there are controls out there that can be triggered with the wave of a palm if they're that hysterical over push button doors?
It's proven to save energy and isn't that what all agencies-strive to be doing?

"Track issues" near Bridge St have led to disruptions today - all trams cancelled north of Central for a while with limited service now resuming as far as Town Hall.

They had a real-life such incident in Haymarket with a Variotram a few years ago. Of course, they jacked up the front of the tram.

I thought I saw a decoupled tram yesterday morning as I drove past the Kingsford stop early yesterday morning just past 7am. I didn't take enough notice of it until I had already driven past. I was looking at the destination.
It was one of those moments where I thought hang on a moment.

I have mentioned this about the closure of Thomas Street from Sussex Street in the IWRL thread, but the pedestrian plaza along George Street and Devonshire Street (between Chalmers and Elizabeth) was endorsed by Council's traffic committee recently in November and endorsed by the Councillors in December.

In the YouTube clip mentioned above, at about the 53 seconds mark, they pull the dummy body out from underneath the tram, and you can see a 2nd unit behind. That looks like the full length of the Platform.

Could instantly recognise the sets in question as trams 001+002. 001 has been carrying the Xero adwrap for a while, perhaps one of the very few adwraps I don’t mind because it happens to be my favourite shade of blue.

But back to actual topic, that is pretty appalling to see. Could’ve had some very nasty consequences..

You can imagine all the do gooders offering him comfort as they try to rescue him from underneath, much like that incident on T1 years ago where a pedestrian didn't exercise due care crossing.
This was far worse and disgusting to see.
