DCM 8028
Hi all,
below is a photo of DCM 8028 after it had been lifted off the tracks a couple of hours ago. According to someone on site she will be cut into sections, loaded onto trucks and taken away.

Re: DCM 8028
I'm not too sure, but id say it sounds about right. They werent there when I was there (about 6pm).
Im hoping the pieces will still be there in the morning because the trucks will be oversize and arent allowed to move until dawn (according to RTA regulations). If they are still there i'll be sure to take some pics and post them tomorrow arvo

After all this is over, lets hope that cityrail don't freak out and renumber every other "13" train!

Probably similar to the (or the same) trailer that gets used when a loco ends up in the dirt and gets carted away for repairsVolvoB7RLE wrote:Thanks for the update, apparently theres a big low loader with two trucks there! Is that right?

Re: DCM 8028
Bairstow, how did you get close enough? I though they would have blocked the access to near the site.
DCM in this case means Driving Control Motor. Nope, scrap that, well at least the middle letter, K in DKM meant something. Can't remember.
If "D" means stands for double deck car, then please explain the one end of the Double deck 2 car K Sets that start with Cnnnn?boronia wrote:D: indicates it is a double deck car

Ditto. Didn't CityRail do something similar with G7?Kurt wrote:After all this is over, lets hope that cityrail don't freak out and renumber every other "13" train!

The photo looks like it was taken from the Great Western Highway, which runs parrallel and adjacent to the railway at Medlow Bath.Newcastle Flyer wrote:Bairstow, how did you get close enough? I though they would have blocked the access to near the site.

Re: DCM 8028
Looks like they have the highway down to one direction with a stop/go in place at either end of the effected section?
All you'd need would be a phillips head screw driver (or said bit in a battery drill)Swift wrote:I'de like to souvenire the blue and yellow front section.

Re: DCM 8028
Went past this arvo to find 8028 stripped of seats, A/C units and electrics. Noted just west of blackheath 2 low loaders waiting near the cemetary (ironic!)

Because suburban car numbering is separate to interurban car numbering (derived from loco-hauled carriage numbering)?Newcastle Flyer wrote:If "D" means stands for double deck car, then please explain the one end of the Double deck 2 car K Sets that start with Cnnnn?

DCM8028 up for the scrappers
After an incident with a fallen tree in the Blue Mountains, DCM8028 is up for the scrappers claw after extreme damage to the top deck with the ceiling touching the seats. Here is a video that shows the damage. Too bad though, This set just came from a tour not long ago.

K doesn't mean anything, other than indicating that it was the last series of d/d i/c cars, fitted with chopper controls.Newcastle Flyer wrote:

The previous series used I and J in the middle.

Re: DCM 8028
I had the info available about those cars, but can't access it.
Wonder if their may be a cache of what was that site again, that had a site page about V-Sets (Suppose Wikipedia would do - as a last resort)

DCM8028 was stripped then cut in 2 yesterday afternoon and the remains have now been removed. The XPT was also removed yesterday to Mt Victoria.

Re: DCM 8028
Good photos there Bairstow. Sad to see 8028 gone. If CityRail were to repair and put back together again 8020, that would be sweet.
