Finally a caller and host on that that left wing radio station calling it the "Overland", not the "Overlander". And yes they are/were two different trains.

You'd never think you'd hear anyone say this but I'm actually happy I'll be returning to work soon enough. The time off was okay but couldn't really do much because meh weather over the Christmas break and close friends were already doing their own things.

Not specifically what 'made me happy', but gave me a good big laugh this morning at a time that I really needed one. Wrong serial episode 3AW!

For those out of the loop, 3AW's Australia Overnight (Tony Moclair's program, but Pat Panetta was filling in this morning) is one of the few programs around these days that plays radio serials. They play each next episode as the days go on. That being said, an episode of said serial that was aired on Thursday was accidentally replayed today (Friday)

Channel Nine screening Murder Lies & Alibis episode on the January 1984 bank robbery hostage crisis last night. It stopped Sydney leading to a convoluted chase involving an abandoned blue Datsun 180b with its keys in the ignition taken from the street. Some rarely seen footage showing traffic at a standstill including lots of shots of Mercedes 0305 mark II buses and some Leopards seen in the background. A rare glimpse on how awesome Sydney once was, thanks to a dreadful situation.

Finding out that next week they'll be doing rail replacement on the local train line during the day which means RAIL REPLACEMENT BUSES & I can put that new DSLR to good use at last.

This is somewhat better than weekend rail replacement as more types of buses are put onto train replacement compared to the weekends where it's 99% just Volgrens & high-floor SC222's.

The space wheel segment in 2001 and the attention to detail in it. I just love how one half isn't complete and the framework is ready for future expansion. It's probably complete by now with another on the way.

- People thanking the Bus driver yesterday as they disembarked from the bus, don't think I've ever been on a bus where this many people have thanked the driver.

- Finally seeing the NIF (D-Set) train in person & getting decent amount of footage & photos, now I can rest easy unlike last week where it decided to forgo the remainder of it's journey and head back up to Sydney.

A little kindness never goes astray - I always thank anyone who I get to drive me around that I pay a fare to.....

Things that make me happy today:
  • 1. Helping out a friend of a friend of mine - he's been waiting on a package from the UK that got held in Geelong for a month. It's on it's way to me!
    2. Making myself smile - looking at photos on a friend's Facebook and seeing some familiar birds!
    3. Being able to be me - as I am autistic, I love being able to be me without any issues whatsoever!

The standoff with Facebook and exposing how dependent Australians are on the platform. I was hoping for more inconvenience for users but alas I hear they're closer to talks now and a lot of the blocked pages are reopening. Ahh well it was delightful while it lasted.

Riding one of Busways Wyongs Mercedes O500LE CB80 MK II buses.

Riding Red Bus Services Iveco Metro express buses.

When heading down to Wyong on the CCN train, being in a non-quite carriage but the entire journey it was silent. Glad I didn't have to put up with someone blasting their loud annoying music like what's happened previous times.

Taking the day out to go somewhere different, I don't get to spend a lot of my time outside of the Newcastle area so going somewhere different has helped clear my mind.

I mentioned about it in the other day on another thread on here, It was my fear that had me feeling they either couldn't maintain the site anymore or they were calling it an end after all these years. I tried visiting the site in it's downtime only to find out the domain was now for sale. there is a lot of historical photographs on there, to lose that site would mean to lose a great detail of bus history. I'm glad to see it was a different issue (web domain failing to renew) and that their back.

Lovely picture, by any chance did you post that to a certain facebook group? If not I'm having some De Ja vu. I may have seen it on Showbus but can't remember.

I know I did put it into the Austral Tourmaster Appreciation Group - even though it's a Minimaster, it still looks like the full-size Tourmaster!
