Re: Parlorcars Intercity Express/Panther
In Sydney wasn't their passenger terminal on Broadway down near the Grace Bros building on the left heading away from Railway Square. The vehicles would reverse off Broadway and the basic structure is still there. Haven't heard of them before but Kanimbla Tours in photo 2 sounds like a Blue Mountains operator of the time.
Think for yourself, while it's still legal !
Re: Parlorcars Intercity Express/Panther
The last coach left in the original Collins Coachways fleet is an Albion Viking with a Superior body ex Panther Tours. I might try to post a photo. This coach i believe was one of the first coaches to be built with a toilet. Meaning it was not fitted later as a lot were in the old days.
Re: Parlorcars Intercity Express/Panther
Parlorcars use to operate from William Street Kings Cross as Redline had had a covered depot and teminal just down the road in an old car dealership.
When they started Intercity Express they moved to the Hampton court Hotel in Kings Cross.
Panther moved to Broadway just before or just after Golden Fleece took them over and shared the terminal with Greyhound.
I worked at Fairfax at the time and would often jump a ride (free) back to the coast now and then.
Often saw Golden Fleece management send a coach back to depot for a change over as in their last days try and find a straight panel etc etc.
Greyhound load 37 Panther 1 with dule departure times.
Can you see them stopping three lanes of traffic these days to allow a coach in and out of the terminal.
