Whatever the f**k this is:
https://www.facebook.com/share/v/17Y9nUmTCf/

I'm sorry that I'm being harsh, but clearly, Everyone in this video is gonna look really stupid when someone explains to them the very strict regulations that are put on Railways in Victoria.

First of all, the level crossing has lights and bells, and now Tactiles
Secondly, there are train tracks, They clearly indicate that the train has the right of way.
Thirdly, the kid is at fault, I'm sorry that I'm blaming a child for getting run over by a train. But in this case, they were well aware that they have to cross the level Crossing. they could have dismounted before they reached the level crossing, looked out for trains and then cross the tracks. based on the video and the google map satelite, the pedestrian crossing doesn't look like its designed for people to ride their bikes through, there are even signs at the crossing saying "Cyclists dismount" or if it was someone else's bike was left on the tracks, just leave the bike alone and report it at the station after the train has passed.
Forthly, you can look up when trains are supposed to come through the town, there are the master train plans on the ARTC website
Lastly, The Trains are required to whistle (or in the public's case, blow their horns) when approching the level crossing. In Victoria, trains are supposed to Whistle twice when approaching the level crossings. There is a whistle post nearby.

The level crossing has plenty of warning signs, The people using the level crossing know they're supposed to look out for trains, the trains are supposed to whistle when they approach the crossing.

The only decent point I could take away from this was that there needs to be a gate the crossing, and I'm in agreement with the idiots in regard to installing a pedestrian gate, especially if we want to run more trains in the future, having frequent trains running through the town would certainly warrant a pedestrian gate to be installed.

Why do the same people on one hand complain about petrol and diesel prices knowing that almost all liquid hydro carbons are imported to Australia and we are dependent on foreign exchange rates and Oil prices dictated by OPEX.

But at the same time complain about BEV's, when while BEV technology currently isn't suited to everyone, would easily replace over 75% of the current cars on the roads with no determinential impact on users or user experience and can be charged in some cases off your own roof or discounted off-peak / bulk power tariffs for the majority of charging.

The same people who supported daming the Gordon below Franklin River in a remote very diverse wilderness area dismissing environmental claims appear typically the same people / same type of people who oppose solar and wind farms on environmental / visual aspect grounds despite the majority being built on privately owned mostly previously cleared or low grade land vountary leased by the land holder for a 2nd income.

Apprently turning up in a boat 500 years ago doesn't entitle you to lay claim over a piece of land with native Americans living on it.

But turning up in a boat 400 years ago does entitle you to lay claim over a piece of land with native Americans living on it.

Don't get us started. This claim is so weird to me. What is trying to acquire Greenland gonna do?

I do wonder if the people of Greenland really want the United states to invade them. I don't think they'd want a worse quality of life than what is currently being offered by Denmark.

Trump also claims he doesn't want the United States to be Neighbours with Russia, even Though Russia is literally right next to Alaska, a US state so Russia is the US's neighbour already.

First rule of being a dictator, when the heat is on at home, start a war or threaten to do so in the name of national security. Just look at Putin's BS claims of Ukraine for case in point and this was all to avoid the upcoming election.

I really do wonder if most USA Citizens including DT and past Presidents actually know about the Bearing Sea border. Look at all the BS they have done over the years through out Europe etc and then what have they done in Alaska, a fraction. There is 26,000 USA military personal stationed in Alaska and over 100,000 in Europe, this despite the existance of the rest of NATO and 500 M people who would oppose any Red Army invasion for which after the Ukraine BS we all know is no longer a realistic threat.

Yes Greenland is partly between USA and Russia over the pole, but thats partly with other NATO countries also inbetween. Meanwhile Canada is the bulk of the gap between USA and Russia, but DT tried that card and it fell flat nor is threatening to invade 30 M people going to win many votes vs Greenlands 57,000.

Greenlanders have voiced their decision on being colonised by the USA and the answer was 85 to 95% no depending on which poll. Most Greenlanders have a view that full independence from Denamrk is their preference, when they can afford it. However currently they are effectively a sovereign nation of their own and something they will loose under USA.

Standard of living will decline for Greenlanders if they go under USA, the US education and medical systems as well as their work or die employment culture. For example
- Greenland enjoys 25 AL + 15 public holidays per year
- Sick leave up to 26 weeks a year
- Maternity Leave, expectant mothers are entitled to 17 weeks of total maternity leave and shared parental leave 21 weeks per child.
- unemployment etc etc

Denmark currently funds $650 Mpa towards Greenlands govt budget of $1.7 Bpa.

Denmark has the highest GDP per capita (approx. $68,500–$72,000), followed closely by the USA, while Greenland lags behind with a GDP per capita of around $58,500.

Hard to imagine USA will lift Greenland GDP.

Something on the side and closer to my work
ALCOA was investigating a potential Aluminium smelter project in Greenland, which has been developing is hydro electric options to replace importing fossil fuels for electricty generation. The project proposed was a medium size potline of 350 ktpa, this would increase Greenlands exports by 50%.

Greenland is culturally too alien for US annexation. It’s clearly established a cultural alignment with the Danes over a long period.

Agree, but doesn't seem to matter for some.

Imagine taking over a country by force that has two main languages that uses words full of constantants, neither of which is not related to english at all and almost impossible for a native english speaker to learn easily. They would be making fun of you while standing infront of you talking to your face.

Shh, that's communist thinking. Say it too loud in Australia and the government will halve our train services, build more multi-billion dollar toll roads and further subsidise the importation of Ford Rangers and Toyota Hiluxes.

The Hunter Rail line.

Good rollingstock that services it, okay-ish access to regional stations it serves, but anyone from before Generation Z that rides it always comes off as bell-ends. Can be guaranteed when you hop on a Hunter line service you'll get a pack of youths who are insistent on being rowdy (and every few words they utter coming out of their mouths is the f, c word or an insult), vaping onboard, playing rap music at full volume that sounds like nails on a chalkboard, vandlising, leaving rubbish and trashing the carriage and making life difficult for other commuters who just want to ride in peace. Being a 100% two car service and only running hourly on weekends, good luck getting a ride from A-B on there without issue.

Primary reason why I don't like using the line too much anymore. CCN isn't as bad during the day or early morning, not to say it's without the same problem but I've always encounted more tolerable people on it (As long as your in the quiet car which 98% of people respect).

Why the use of guards on these services is pointless and the guards role needs to be removed in return for onboard security. Can have one on normal services and on known problem services or just random have two or more. Issue fines and kick them off.

Always happens in Qld. I sometimes tell the guard, but they only make an announcement. QR needs to do something about it.

Australia Post offices.

My local one got shut down, so I had to go to another one. I accidentally jumped the queue(people bloody everywhere) and the grumpy bloke yelled at me telling to get in the queue or get out. When I go get to the desk, he huffs and puff his way through my transaction.

Never going there again unless it is unavoidable.

We have had parcel lockers installed within very easy walking distance. I have my online shopping directed to them and it is very easy to collect items, you also can drop off items to the parcel lockers if the packaging/postage is prepaid.
