I'm currently travelling around China for work for 25 days and this is 4th trip in 18mth andI normally do at least 3000 km by HSR.

Do I think HSR will work for Australia?

No.

We need MSR starting with Sydney to Canberra, reducing the current time from 4.3 hours to 2.25 - 2.5 hr and its really not that hard to achieve using rolling stock rated up to 200 km/h.

Brightline will need to change the design of the nose of their trains if they want to make them high speed. Japan had to modify their original designs as the flat rectangle didn't work. Look at any high speed train, the nose is low, then sweeps up to the train height.
