For some reason most of the interesting cars I have seen lately have been red. Today I was driving down the Windsor Road at Northmead and a very clean looking red Jaguar XJS passed me.

Saw a dark metallic green Holden Kingswood at Baulkham Hills junction earlier today. From what I can tell from Wikipedia, it was either an HZ or an HX. Later in the day I saw a red Holden Gemini (the one that looked like a miniature Commodore) at Bella Vista. Once a common car, but not many seem to be left now.

I didn't post this one at the time, because I didn't think much of it as a photo, but it definitely was a sighting of a rare and unusual car - an Armstrong-Siddeley in the Castle Towers car park at Castle Hill, back in 2015:

There were openings for the front and rear lights and door handles rather crudely cut out and no badges were visible whatsoever. I can't say I recognised what it was, but it did have a slightly bland generic look. The only identification was a sticker with the letters SRIH on it.
I saw it again today, this time in the laneway at the back of the shops that leads into Castle Mall's car park.

Unfortunately both times I have seen it I have been driving in traffic - not a good time to take out a mobile phone for a picture.

Yesterday I came across this XR Falcon in Mitcham opposite the Envirobank container deposit depot, which is in Nunawading despite being across the road. Of course it was a V8. :)

Wheels look like EF/EL Falcon steelies.

I'm not sure why some people think bonnet scoops are a good idea. I've never seen one that actually improved the appearance of the vehicle. I suppose though that the rest of that Falcon is relatively unmolested, so it wouldn't be too hard for someone to return it to its original appearance.

I can't help wondering too, when I see a well presented hot rod, how much money was sunk into the project. I shudder to think, for example, how much money this one swallowed up:

Not a recent photo, I'm afraid. I took it in January of 2020 (just before the Covid travel restrictions hit) when I was visiting some friends in Canberra and (unintentionally) ended up there at the same time as the Summernats were on. I remember us sitting outdoors having breakfast at a cafe in Braddon and having a constant stream of modified cars going past, mostly making strange burbling noises. This was the only photo I took of them though - it was parked (in Mort Street, I think) looking as if it wanted to be photographed.

Spotted an early model Toyota Crown Majesta, possibly early to mid 1990s, parked on Station Street in Fairfield on Tuesday morning and yesterday afternoon on Plenty Road in Bundoora. Same color and same rego.

Rare sighting because most people who own an imported Crown Majesta own the ones between 2004-2016. Wasn't possible to take happy snaps of it but the truck's inbuilt dash cam may have it on tape parked neatly on a 45° angle on what looked to be airbag suspension

Why couldn't they leave Lexus to the Americans or continue to sell the Crown and Cressida here as Toyota's luxury offerings?
I drove a final model Cressida once and what a delightful six it has.

There's one of those Toyota Crown Majestas around here too. I see it from time to time on the Windsor Road. It's a black one.

Latest sightings from me have been a dark green and white Mini Cooper (one of the original Minis but not one of the very first ones) at Northmead and some late 1920s (or possibly very early 1930s) American large and very upmarket looking closed 4 door car at Dural this afternoon. Don't ask me what make it was, because I don't know although it did have a chrome strip down the centre of the grille, which seems to be an unusual feature. A bit of googling makes me think it might have been an Auburn.

Saw a few interesting things on the way to the City today. While I was on the bus, I saw a blue Datsun 1000 (?) ute at Baulkham Hills and then, about a kilometre down the road, a red Datsun 1000 (?) sedan. Then, crossing the Bridge, the bus passed a red early 1950s, I think, MG. As if that was not enough, when I was waiting for the lights to change so I could cross the King Street/George Street intersection, a white late 1930s Chevrolet convertible came down King Street, followed by five Chevrolet Impalas of varying vintages, three of them convertibles (or it may have been four Impalas with two of them being convertibles - I was a bit surprised by all of this and may not have counted them properly).

Sigma's are like hens' teeth these days (come to that, even Magnas are getting rather hard to find). I think maybe they dropped in value so much that most of them ended up with the sort of people that run their cars into the ground until they're ready for a one way trip to the scrapyard. Holden Geminis are another once common car that seem to have almost vanished too.

Saw a beautifully presented Jaguar XJS convertible at Baulkham Hills yesterday (on the road in heavy traffic, so no photo). The paintwork was metallic and a sort of maroon with a touch of brown. I say convertible, but the top looked like it was in place although the back was down.......

And, just to prove I wasn't making that up, here's my photo with the Trabant:

Found myself at a red light at Northmead earlier today behind a very tidy white FIAT 132.
