Volvo B10 M - Fitting seats with Seat Belts

Post by Jughead »

Hi All,

I would like your help please.

I am in the process of converting a Volvo B10M bus - 3/1992 model, into a motorhome.

It is a city bus and currently has seats that don't have seat belts.
I would like to fit seats from a Mercedes Sprinter that has integrated seat belts.
I have made up a bracket that allows the seats to be fitted to the standard fittings - which are runners along the wall and the floor.

However, my certifier advised that I would need to prove that this model of bus was offered with seat-belted seats fitted tot these runners, or pay thousands of dollars to certify that the runners are compliant.

Does anyone have photos of a B10M fitted with seat belts?
Or know where I could find such photos?

Unfortunately the bus was built by Austral, who have gone out of business in 1998.

Cheers,

JG

The problem would be more likely to involve the body structure, not the chassis. It is unlikely that any 1992 body, especially a city bus, would have been built seat belt compliant.

The runners would probably need to reinforced to comply with the relevant AS.

Yes, I realize that. I am looking for photos of the same method used in Volvo busses, even a later model - one rail along the wall, and one along the floor.
