1976 Bedord Domino and Hedges project.

Post by storm »

I finally got myself a bus project and while it's not a double decker it's still a good project. This thread, along with a Facebook page "Um, I bought a bus" and YouTube channel "Michael Built" will be where I document the build process.

The bus, which is named "Robert the Brews", I home brew and eventually the bus will be where I do it, and "Bob the Bus" is an old 1976 Bedford with a Domino and Hedges body. The first task that I have given myself for it, apart from cleaning out the inside, is refitting windows that have been taken out or smashed. The reason for this is I want to be able to seal the bus as best as I can and with 2 windows missing and patched up with wood and roofing tin it just isn't sealed.

I would like to be able to replace all the windows and door seals if possible. Does anyone know if these are still available?

The engine is a Bedford 500 connected to an Allison automatic transmission. It starts pretty easily and drives, on private property, quite well. The engine pumps out alot of grey smoke so I will need to attend to that because I do want the bus to remain drivable. I may eventual convert it to another engine or even make it an EB (Electric Bus).

The windscreens appear to be flat glass, so any auto glass supplier should be able to cut new pieces to match. Same place should be able to supply new rubbers.

I just posted my very first YouTube video. My 1st YouTube video and its about my new, but 2nd hand, bus project. Please forgive the breathing I have difficulty at the best of times but I am currently getting over Covid. As time and finances allow I will get equipment to help with video and sound production.
