End July? Thats pretty fast. Looking forward to route 280.

IMO, 940 can interline with 290/291 like 995 with 102/107. 277/278 can be based out of Midland.

I agree it’s very odd it could be a soft opening this would put it at 6 weeks to full closure we’re also at EOFY now so any announcement would have come via Facebook or official press release and there is still more work to do in the rail corridor planned for July such as tamping and smoothing out the rails this July wouldn’t really leave much time to iron out any issues

Is that report recent? As the Minister will now not give a firm opening date after originally saying "mid-year" it makes me think July is quite optimistic if not completely out the window at this point.

Also noticed that the 2m surfboard note had re-added to the route 990 timetable.

Timetables updated:
So route 569 will be every 40 minutes at peak times in the peak direction only (possibly the most that can be achieved with only one bus?), every 60 minutes each way off peak but with a two hour gap around midday, and no service at all on weekends. Presumably it will be upgraded further once resources allow given the January timetable promised an ultimate full time daily service.

A few observations on the other routes from flicking through the timetables:
  • 15 - Short-working trip from Mt Hawthorn arriving at Glendalough 7:28am is now a full- length trip
  • 403 - One extra Sunday evening trip in each direction operates one hour after the current final trip - partially replacing the early evening services that were cut way back when the core-times timetable was replaced by hourly services
  • 414 - One Saturday late night trip in each direction cancelled - last trip is now 11:29pm from Glendalough
  • 422 - One weekday afternoon trip Scarborough-Karrinyup and one Saturday morning trip Karrinyup-Scarborough withdrawn
  • 423 - Weekday am peak shortworkings starting at North Beach now commence earlier at Hillarys Boat Harbour
  • 425 - Time changes on Saturdays so that the 15 minute frequency from Stirling to Karrinyup (formed by the combination of routes 423 and 425) starts earlier from the first trip of the day, achieved by moving two late-afternoon shortworkings (both of which were partially duplicated by existing trips on route 423) to the morning
  • 564 - Weekday pm peak frequency mostly reduced from 10 to 20 minutes
Catch a Traklink bus and you're on the train.

When are these changes taking place? I hope 292 will be a free service paid for by the operator of Perth Airports.

Wonder if 940 will interline with 290 and 291 like 930/210/211/212 and 995/102/107. Not to mention 277 and 278 can be run by Midvale.

Also, 280 is believed to operate on Sundays, which is an upgrade from what we're getting with 294.

Not quite sure when the merger of bus routes 340 and 353 happens as these two routes are run by different operators, maybe happens when the Airport Line opens?

Given the network in that area has to be retimed to accommodate 12min peak train frequencies, I imagine it will be done as part of FAL rollout. Not sure if buses will be swapped between operators - but with the slight frequency reductions on surrounding routes and those around Midland, it might be sufficient for nothing to change.

They might have to wait until Morley and Midland packages have been farmed out as both may end up under Path Transit following Joondalup going over to Swan Transit.

Not sure why contract changes would be relevant in the context of a relatively minor service overhaul. If the PTA says "jump", then the contractor asks, "how high?". The tender documents for Freo & Rocky tended to indicate bidders would bid on the existing network - not what it may or may not look like in 12 months or 12 years...

Morley and Midland have another 1-2 years left before they expire IIRC. The merger of 340/353 would mean one package would lose a route after all, and both packages have different operators like Shinji says.

Looks like it's not much related to the contract renewal as similar changes was happened a year before when the changes in Balga/Girrawheen/Marangaroo/Darch area, the portion previous served by route 352/372 (Swan) had split into route 374 (Swan) and 375 (Path) respectively.

Nice to see that, rather than some vaguely worded mention of "additional trips" or "trips will be removed due to poor patronage" that more detail as to what is changing, and why, has been offered.

Would guess any major changes to this route would be contingent on the Thornlie-Cockburn link network reforms - as that's probably the only place the extra funding will come from in the present climate. At the very least, Sunday service needs doubling, plus a few tweaks around the early morning/late night service (which were reduced just before COVID struck "due to poor patronage") to bring it in line with the generally-accepted parameters of a 900-series service.

There's also a question of how the 506 would fit into this - whether it stays the same, becomes a Ranford Rd Stn - Nicholson Rd Stn (or whatever they're officially called) or is deleted entirely.

Whe you're at it, there's also there's the question of whether 75 will terminate at Ranford station instead of CVDEP.

It would have been nice if 501/507 had merged. But it now makes more sense if 507/280 were to merge.

Re: PTA / Transperth Service Changes - 2022

Post by Merc1107 »

There's some vague wording there for the 282 about "Changes to the frequency and operating hours of the service." With any luck that means the Lesmurdie area might get a better service at night, and on weekends (esp. Sundays!).

It was interesting to trawl through the school service changes, if only to see how many services are being double, even triple banked. Bit of a tricky balancing act with artics (like Midland, Joondalup or Mandurah) I guess, given how much more local the running in the Kalamunda area will be in the wake of the upcoming changes. Still a few more of those B8RLEAs to come, so perhaps a few more will turn up in the East?

282 and 283 won't be cut back to Oats Street, at least for now.

26 getting cut is a surprise. It had potential to be integrated with 270. Also, 23 could have been removed altogether with selected deviations on 995 replacing it similar to arrangements on 68 and 531. 995 itself can be integrated with 970 easily.

Will there be interlining between 940/290/291 like 930/210/211/212 in Thornlie? Would Bayswater be getting 353 in exchange for Midvale getting 277/278?

280 is a blessing for Queens Park and Wattle Grove. Hope this one, along with 507 can get the 915 treatment in the long run.
