IIRC, you used to be able to walk in the tunnel under Botany Rd and surface at the bus stop. Now it seems the stop has been moved about 100 metres south?

It seems they have removed the announcement link (the url accessed from the above Google search) ?
Bus route

Routes 487, 905, 922, 923, 924, 926, 944, 945
Bankstown Central, The Mall, Stand B

Google map shows the stops Stands A and C but I cant find the stop for stand B,

I would like to know why this is still the case as well. It’s a pretty busy bus stop in the mornings on work days.boronia wrote:IIRC, you used to be able to walk in the tunnel under Botany Rd and surface at the bus stop. Now it seems the stop has been moved about 100 metres south?
I initially thought it was because of the construction access, but that has long gone

Presumably "traffic congestion" caused by the stop being too close to the intersection. I think there is an inset bus bay now.

The bludgers should catch the bus instead. That sucks to inconvenience regular passengers.

Sorry, the inset bay (1 bus length) was at the old stop, still there; the current stop is in a traffic lane. There is quite a wide footpath there now, it would be quite feasible to extend the bay to at least 3 bus lengths without losing amenity.

So I saw 2081 again at Wynyard as it was pulling away, thus got a quick shot of it from the driver's side - sure enough both sides still have the State Transit reference, even though the accreditation has been updated.

The bus bay is currently a loading zone, perhaps this is the permanent setup?boronia wrote:Sorry, the inset bay (1 bus length) was at the old stop, still there; the current stop is in a traffic lane. Busways 1662 on the 774 corridor (but may have been a school route*) first of the ex Sta buses in service but the updated livery looks bland and awful should have atleast put them in the same livery as The Mercedes Custom 405s.
Re: NSW Bus Observations 2022
For buses that will only be around for a short period, surprised they even repainted them. Busways didn't bother when it purchased a batch of MK II Mercedes O305s from State Transit for its North Coast operations about 15 years ago.

That's pretty momentous. 36 years since Monlé Vale had Atlanteans.

Assume 770/774 will divert tomorrow and peak 775/6 schools as a road has a burst waterman in Kingswood.

Newcastle Transport Drivers to go on strike again this Monday coming (20th) June for 24 hours. Sadly the only newspiece I can find about it is paywalled (go figure).
https://www.newcastleherald.com.au/stor ... -24-hours/
Heard on the radio yesterday this will NOT AFFECT ferry & light rail services, those will continue to run and function as normal. School buses are also part of the strike meaning they will not run alongside the service buses so School Students will have to find alternative means of getting to school on Monday.
Edit: Non-paywalled 2NURFM Article (Thank you for not hiding information behind a paywall)

Newcastle bus drivers are set to escalate their industrial action from next Monday, as talks with operator Keolis Downer over pay and conditions continue.
The Rail, Tram and Bus Union says the operator is failing to meet their demands for a seven percent wage increase over two years.
Drivers were set to go ahead with action this week, turning off the Opal card readers, but retracted the decision.
They’ll instead move forward with a 24-hour strike from 2:01am next Monday morning, meaning no buses will run across the Newcastle Transport network.
At the end of the strike, they’ll begin an indefinite ban on logging into and using the Bus Driver Console, which means Opal card readers aren’t likely to operate.
The union is apologising to commuters, but claims the blame is on Keolis Downer for failing to meet them at the table.

Re: NSW Bus Observations 2022.
I thought hardly anyone in Newcastle used their buses anyway, unless that changed due to overhauling the bus network after the STA ceased there?

Re: NSW Bus Observations 2022.
Patronage has actually declined since KD implemented their new network. Primarily because the new network design alienated a lot of existing users, while failing to attract new users.
Not surprising really, given Newcastle is designed for the car and if you have that option you'd never switch to the bus!
Good riddens to Westbus...

One of the Blue Mountains BCI double deckers was broken down eastbound on the m4 Slip road at Mamre Road St Marys.
