Brisbane Trams removed 52 years ago
Today April 13th marks 52 years since Trams last ran in Brisbane. The reason they were withdrawn was that the Labour Mayor of Brisbane was pressured to stop them from the Liberal Premier of Queensland Mr Joh Bjelke-Petersen, who was receiving kickbacks from the Oil companies who wanted all electric street transport gone.
