The fan regulates the coolant temperature in the engine. If the fan is not working properly the temperature may rise, and hence you get the light. Presumably the bus has a temperature gauge, what is it showing?
There wouldn't normally be a separate indicator specifically for the fan though. Any leakage should be visible during regular inspections.

Re: Scania K320 - hydrostatic fan oil leak
Be carfull! Recently 4 of our Scanias burned down because of this kind of oil leak!Please_HELP wrote:Hi all
Can someone help me with this technical query? It's about a 2010 Scania K320.
If the oil reservoir for the hydrostatic fan leaks, what warnings would a driver get? Would it start driving differently?
E.g. Would the oil pressure gauge or other gauge start dropping? Any oil specific warning light would come up?
Just asking because this oil leak happened and a driver says he noticed only after a high engine temperature light came on.
Thanks!
It sould be inspected regulary before the shift starts.

It may be possible to retro-fit a "low fluid sensor" into the tank.
This can provide an alert if the oil level drops below a predetermined level.
