It says here https://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/image ... chemes.pdf on page 7 that there is no evidence that speed restrictions on P drivers save lives but surely changing lanes continuously with a speed limited truck would be more dangerous apart from the fact P drivers are never taught how to merge on a freeway.

My current car is my sister's 2002 Hyundai Tiburon, which she bought in 2016 and is past 300,000kms and still running like new apart from general wear and tear like peeling paint in the front bumper and fading paint on the boot just below the rear window.

Got a cat-back exhaust installed back on November and came with silencers which can be installed and taken out at will. They're currently installed and I despise how the car sounds. I'd take them off but my mum is concerned a non-silenced cat-back Tiburon will attract police attention.

I want a change of scenery and replace that car with the Toyota Soarer (Z30). But their numbers here are scarce unless you import them from Japan where they are big in number.

My brother had 4 Prius and one Camry hybrid and bought a new hybrid Hino every time they improved on them, having driven the Camry on a few occasions I was impressed with it especially in city driving.
I think full electric cars may be OK in warm climates but definitely not in cold especially with our long distances.

Americans are so smart although with hybrids the motor doesn't rev much. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_W8clK4mb8

Bedford Bus Model

Post by Sluister »

Just joined this website!

Just wondering if anyone knows the model of this Bedford Bus.

I believe it’s a 1971 year with a 303 engine.

Any ideas too on where it might of operated would be awesome.

Thanks in advance!

Victoria has great road rules where everybody drives exactly 2km below the speed limit and you do not get the lane changing caused by L plates and red and green P plates or point to point truck speed cameras that have empty trucks overtaking loaded trucks uphill only to have them pass you on the other side.
Lets hope we go their way because I am sure it would be less stressful and possibly even safer. https://www.whichcar.com.au/car-news/ns ... mera-signs

Am I seeing things......a small Hyundai sedan with 2 doors on the near side, but only one door, the driver's, on the off side?

"It's twoo, it's twoo!"....(with apologies to Mel Brooks and "Blazing Saddles")........The small Hyundai "coupe" does indeed have a single driver's door on the "off" side, but a second door, with the fashionable hi-level door handle, on the near side.

That would be the Veloster. I recall that one of the Mazda RX models also had half an extra door on one side to provide a bit better access to the rear seats.

Volvo 240 series of the 1970s came in 2 and 4 door versions. Unlike most cars, the cabin structure was the same in both models, just the B pillars in the 2 door were a bit further back to accommodate the longer doors. I've seen pics of retrofit conversions with a single door on the driver's side and 2 on the passenger side. Good safety feature to prevent passengers using the "wrong" side.

.....and on the subject of those high-level rear door handles (above) on so many new small cars.....what's the logic behind it?

If I want people to believe I'm a highly skilled racing driver, should I paint my Yaris brake calipers yellow, or red ?

I'm about to sink $8600 on a 2005 Lexus IS250 located in Adelaide. Possibly by the end of the week. Pristine condition.

Car is registered in Queensland. Possibly recently moved to Adelaide.

I don't think there is any. How often are the rear seat passemgers considerably taller than those in the front?

I didn't buy a Lexus IS250 Because life happened (car repairs) but do have $6000 to spend plus $1355 coming from my tax return. Weighing up between a Lexus LS430 or a W210 Mercedes E class Kompressor.

It's a known fact that those Mercedes of that era are bulletproof, their biggest drawback is rust which may screw me big time in a couple years. I may as well settle for the LS430.

They are abusing their reputation, and customers dumb enough to give them repeat business, no doubt about it.

I think the most ridiculous thing is, a Landcruiser GXL Ute lists at a high enough price to be hit by "luxury car tax"... As if a bit of carpet, cloth seats, electric windows (only the driver's is automatic-down) and a basic AM/FM radio + CD player with Bluetooth is luxury in 2023! A used Landcruiser ute, even examples with upwards of 100,000km were listed with prices well in excess of new, such were the length of delays if you wanted a brand-new example. Not sure if this is still going on.

I'm not trying to defend this practice but, if the car has been, prior to its sale by the dealer to the customer, been registered to another party, wouldn't that make it a used vehicle, even if the distance travelled is minimal? Either used or, if it was registered in the name of the dealership, a demonstrator?

I have a feeling that there might be nothing legally to stop them doing this.

Found this brand new 2023 Toyota Landcruiser Workmate Cab/Chassis with only 142 km on the clock on Graysonline. Cancelled order perhaps? Current bid $75,900
