Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
Here's some desto issues I noted from my commutes today
1. W1389 has a REALLY dodgy desto - when I saw it this morning it kept flickering on and off and the text wasn't in the proper shape of the letters
2. T1064 has one or two segments not working on its rear desto

The Scania TAGs also say Carindale Express, instead of Carindale BUZ for Route 222.

I think the BUZ was actually lowercase beforehand

Are MANs really unreliable buses? I know whenever a bus has broken down in Toowong territory it's always a MAN gassie.TheDragonFire123 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 26, 2020 10:20 am W1467 being towed with truck down the Centenary Highway near the Fig Tree Pocket station at around 10:35 this morning. Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
Well, considering they're pretty much the only buses Toowong has had for many years, that doesn't surprise me too much

Well... you're not wrong!
Allow me to clarify as my original comment was a bit unclear...
Toowong Territory is more like 385 territory (Ashgrove, The Gap, Bardon) we've got Es and Vs for many years and they never seam to break down (exclusions - The Scanias and B10L-emons)

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
I guess Toowong is supporting Willawong because 110, 135 and 450 do not exist in Toowong's route inventory but they exist in Willawong's route inventory.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
How is it that 1201, 1202, 1210 and 1213 are still in service (according to brisbanetransport.info)? I doubt that they got given extended life so it doesn't make sense to me as to why they haven't been withdrawn.

I saw T1201 on 412 to St Lucia yesterday during afternoon peak.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
They dont retire buses in order as such, rather condition. I have been on all 4 of those buses in recent time and they are certainly in better shape than some other's in their fleet.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
Indeed. I seen T1202 and T1210 both in the bus park at Suncorp stadium on Thursday. When they came out heading back to Toowong they had T1201 for company ‘Not in Service’ heading from the CBD.

Is Toowong covering for Willawong, Sherwood or Garden City?

Not sure.
It operated on Route 412, then 111 outbound and back to 199 in the afternoon.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
The 111 should be a very easy route to cover and even if you've never driven it before, because it's all busway, it will be much easier, say if you needed to do a 444 run

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
Any news on what buses will be used for the depot Christmas bus decoration competition? I assume S will use 2020, and E might even use an artic.

Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
Wishful thinking about an artic - can’t see that they will be in the road until well into 2021 as Translink are looking for an upsurge in patronage before funding the additional artics
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
T2911 on Route 199 this morning.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
New artics XQ28LT and XQ84MQ undergoing driver training at Victoria Bridge.
Re: Transport for Brisbane Observations 2020
Sherwood's 5110 on an inbound 125 tonight. They can run TAGs on lower patronised routes late at night but it's seemingly impossible to have any sort of high capacity bus servicing any northside route
I've been out on the network a lot recently (especially during peak hours) and can't help but notice how desperately some of these northside routes need an increase in capacity. Outbound 444s leaving Roma St standing room only during the AM peak, this mornings 390 I caught from Newmarket standing room only from the stop after I got on, an outbound 390 passed Roma St Station this afternoons peak with "Sorry Bus Full". 333 and co. being standing room only in the opposite peak direction. A line close to 50 long waiting for the 61 and 385 at King George this arvo. Inbound P443s coming into Roma St with standees.
The point I'm trying to make is that we need more bendies spread out across the network. Too many high capacity services concentrated in one small corner of the network. Yes, the SE Busway services are crazy busy . But so too are many other areas of the network. BCC should be looking at pumping out more artics (since we've had a delivery of 100+ rigids over a year or so) to help out the whole network, not just their favourite little corner
The commencement of the Brisbane Metro services will surely help with this, along with the culling of completely unnecessary and duplicated routes taking away bendies from other services (I'm looking at you 160).
