Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
Part question, wouldn't withdrawn vehicles have their registration cancelled on their withdrawal date? Since 1855 still comes up as registered...
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
Why is 1855 withdrawn when it is newer than 1234? Did it meet with an accident?
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
No. Generally, new buses are assigned in two ways - either as fleet expansion (an extra bus) or as a replacement for something else. Path's gonna end up with a load more artics as part of this order and if they don't need to expand the fleet and have no remaining NHs to replace then they might as well start replacing the oldest OCs (since they'll be the next to go anyway)Enviro 500 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 3:29 am Why is 1855 withdrawn when it is newer than 1234? 'Withdrawn and stored' is probably a better term. The bus would still be around for the time being, it'll just be sitting on the back fence somewhere awaiting decommissioning. In my experience they usually wait out most of the remaining rego period before cancelling it, we will just have to wait and see if the rego is renewed at the end of March.Bus Suggestions wrote: ↑Sat Feb 27, 2021 12:24 am Part question, wouldn't withdrawn vehicles have their registration cancelled on their withdrawal date? Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
Does Path need that many high capacity buses? Are them artics meant to replace the midis, of which they seem to have the lion's share?
Rather than storing them, maybe 1855-57 can go over to Fremantle to replace 1257, 1269 and 1298. From what I understand, the OCs have 20 years before their gas tanks expire.

Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
why must send them to freo. OMG
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
PATH runs a lot of trunk routes 950, 960 etc this will obviously increase when the Airport & Ellenbrook lines eventually come online which is where a lot of the OC500LEs spend a lot of there time so it makes sense to increase capacity with longer buses they also need stowage roads for the new busesEnviro 500 wrote:Does Path need that many high capacity buses? Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
It's likely that B7s or B8s have already filled the void left by buses written off months, or even years ago.
I would also say the fifty additional articulated buses are desperately needed. So many are stuck in the outer suburbs due to specific trips that need an artic, and for various and sundry reasons (distance, maybe rostering and so on) simply cannot get into Perth to run the services where the extra capacity would be desirable, if not highly necessary. There are many routes across Perth where buses double, even triple bank - additional articulated buses could allow less buses to be used, and the resources to be deployed elsewhere.

I haven’t been that far north of the river for a few months and I don’t see every post on this forum so it was news to me

Perhaps use the search bar or visit www.perthbus.info before posting if you aren't sure...? There's plenty of information out there, just because you (and some other users as well) can't be bothered to look for it doesn't make ignorance a good excuse imo.
I do wish people on this board would do at least some basic research (or perhaps re-read the thread rules) before posting some of the stuff that's posted on this board. Honestly seems the overall quality of posts here has gone way down as of late.
Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
That’s actually quite the assumption to make not everyone has the time to check websites for information people do work and have other commitments the whole point of this forum is for observations not to be rudely attacked by the forum trollsSquiddy wrote:Perhaps use the search bar or visit www.perthbus.info before posting if you aren't sure...? Re: PTA / Transperth & Private Observations - 2021
I don't fault anyone here prior to squiddy's post, however, to call people "forum trolls" for simply recommending research, and overstate said recommendation as a "rude attack" is, rather poetically, a "rude attack". I agree, not everybody has time to check, but please leave it at a simple apology for not reading said observations, don't retaliate against someone else for trying to help. And on a side note, the observations should be unusual observations, ones which seem out of place, or new. Hence the recommendation to look at previous posts.
Another side note, I'd recommend leaving this argument here.

It would be nice to have an easy way to find out which PTA buses are at which depot and have it regularly updated with the changes as they happen

It's not public information, so unless someone here does it, chances are it won't happen.Transperthpaperbus wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 1:39 pm It would be nice to have an easy way to find out which PTA buses are at which depot and have it regularly updated with the changes as they happen
Have to say that I agree with Squiddy. The standard of this thread has really gone downhill, seeing as most older members no longer post on this forum.
If it's not a ZF, take it back!
