Bus Driver worksheet

Post by 857panther »

Hi there

I have always wanted to know what a typical bus drivers shift/worksheet looks like and what it contains.

I would be particulary interested in recieving an example of one of these from Path Transit, particularly the Mirrabooka area.

However any depot, any area is fine, can somebody help with this.

Cheers

I may just like to let you know that when shifts were changed in Canberra in May, I had a driver ask (on behalf of me) for the old XXX cards. But they were unable to give to them to him as they are a working Government document & are under some "Commercial In Confidence" rule. So using ACTION as an example, every so often the ACT Government tries to tender for the sale of ACTION Buses. Now if the operator of the bus services near Canberra were to see one of these shifts, they would see how ACTION does their running. So that means that Deanes would have an advantage over say Path Transit.

It may be a bit different in WA, but just be aware of that. But if you pick the right driver & they trust you, they may let you view a copy of their shift.

I don't mean to be so strict/mean, but I don't want to see any ACCC investigations into a Transperth contractor, only for ATDB to be brought into it.

But I will be nice & describe what ACTION Shift Cards are like & I suspect Path Transit may be the same. ACTION have the sign on & off times, the total hours that shift covers. If any days off the driver is entitled to. It then lists each run & its timing points. Somewhere in the middle, the breaks will be & where that break is to be taken.
Payback is a bitch, but is fun to watch.

Basically the shift sheets contain the name and phone number of the depot, shift number, sign on/sign off times, paid hours, running times (route start, individual timing points, route finish), break times, information relating to destination codes, ETIM codes, and other special instructions (i.e. bus type required, mid-shift bus changeovers, empty running, deviations). Shift sheets are often colour-coded to represent standard (school/uni term) shift, school vac shift, uni break shifts, summer shifts, etc.)

Here's what my shift was like for around about 100 years at Bayswater, not that I had any need of a worksheet as it was well & truly memorised. Also, ignore the reference to a meal break, 'twas a rare thing indeed to have one as I was usually out doing change offs.

On the left is the usual shift; on the right is the School Vacs variation:

And it was usually done in the same bus. Here's a photo from the school vacs in October 2002. I've just finished the 1745 886; behind me is the 1740 887 which was on my usual non-school vacs shift. As you can see, I got there first! :P

Thanks for putting up those CAT worksheets, busdriver12; I've never seen them before. I thought I had my first MetroBus worksheets, but I can't find them. Likewise, sorry 857panther, I can't find any worksheets with any Mirrabooka running other than 64s.

Jase, as you would imagine, the 1250 21F was known to be a couple of minutes late on occasion. It wasn't originally on my shift, but there was no way of changing things around to split up those two runs on to separate shifts without costing another bus, so I moved it to my shift as it didn't bother me only having a 1 minute turn-around.

Basically you want a Karrinyup Depot shift.

Maybe some recent ones would be good as their has been changes to Shift appearances. But with Bayswater Depot there is only a minor difference as on the shift sheets there is no longer NH 405 because Bayswater don't operate them anymore. It will either say Low Floor or it will say Rigid. Also now that Bayswater don't operate NH 405 buses get even more full because the max capacity is 98 on the two O305G(Correct me if wrong) and besides that it is the O405 which carry 68.

1 O305G. 662 is the only one at B

857panther: The point I am trying to get across to you is that Karrinyup/Joondalup/Wangara operate the Mirrabooka Services. You can't get a shift for one specific bus station.

I'll save you having to do it Phil. Got some old ones (Pre Wayfarer TGX150 ETIM Roll out (All but one)) here that Drivers have given me. 857 Panther, the Wangara shifts have HEAPS of Mirrabooka Running on them

***PLEASE NOTE: THESE SHIFTS ARE NOT CURRENT. THERE HAS BEEN AT LEAST 4 SHIFT CHANGES SINCE THESE WERE VALID***

1st up is Shift 3891 which is the Afternoon Supervisors Shift at Mirrabooka B/S (School Vacaions) This should be green but the dimwit operating the scanner had it on the wrong settings :oops: :?
W_3891_ST.jpg
The Next one is a Saturday Shift. No. 3302
W_3302.jpg
And this last one is one for actually!. Shift 6830 from their depot. I think they may have even done this one a few times.
B_6830.jpg
Notice how each shift has a different Colour?
White = Weekdays (School Term)
Green = Weekdays (School Holidays)
Blue = Saturdays
Yellow (Sometimes Pink) = Sundays (I think these change between Summer and Winter because of runs like the 408?)

Hope this helps.

First number on shifts at PATH indicate which depot it's running from also, i.e- 1xxx = Karrinyup, 2xxx = Joondalup, 3xxx = Wangara, 4xxx = Morley, 5xxx = Two Rocks, 6xxx = Bayswater, 7xxx = Nowergup and 9xxx = Special Hire.

Thanks Renaultartic. I didn't put that up because not being an employee of PATH Transit, I'm pushing the boundaries by posing the shifts.
