Adelaide Metro does not list most of the routes whose timetables are changing next Sunday.
Only the major changes are listed.

Contract/service areas; blue for east/west, red for north/south, purple for outer north, orange for outer north east, yellow for outer south, green for hills.
Re: October Bus Timetable changes
I wish Ad Met would say what the actual change is to the particular route timetable, instead of having to check if and how you are affected.

Re: October Bus Timetable changes
Personally I think these timetable changes seem to be not only very good but innovative in someway.
Innovativeness is that we will give Torrens Transit that relaunching the J1 through to Elizabeth via Adelaide Airport and Golden Grove but what is a bonus it goes via the Lyell McEwen Hospital which locals have been crying out for years.
Some of the minor changes are tweaks to existing timetables but bringing back the 530 and 578 will yield patronage increases because these areas that lost their direct O-Bahn service in 2011 have decreased their usage of buses in someway but have increased the amount of cars parked at Paradise Interchange will hopefully yield less cars parked at Paradise.
Its also good to see a dedicated Adelaide Airport to City timetable for tourists plus also its good to see that the Adelaide Airport gets more frequent services but also we should remember that Torrens Transit is making good use of nodes such as hospitals and shopping centres and schools to increase patronage- which it will.
The route 300 is changing but i cannot tell what the improvements are.
As for the 500/501/502 being through routed to a 110 to West Lakes sometimes is a plus for workers in the Thebarton area includng around the Brickworks Market area. This will open up Torrens Transit to possibly consider other through-routed services via the O-Bahn it can be done but it just needs the Government to agree.
The return of old route numbers is most welcomed and hope it flows onto other routes in the short term (or within 12 months).
As for any areas that missed out i think the next timetable change will be big also with a number of cut backs but we have to realise that a public transport route cannot run with only the bus driver driving around carrying no one or one or two passengers.
I think once the South Australian Public Transport Authority we may see an increase in marketing and promotions and extensive changes my feeling is that the Adelaide's public transport system will be modelled on the current Auckland model with some buses actually going into the city and the rest becoming feeders at interchanges etc.

Re: October Bus Timetable changes
Agree with these comments from Admet75:
Having the Airport again through linked with TTP/Golden Grove and Elizabeth is great and now with the J1 servicing Lyell McEwen Hospital it almost covers what was lost with the 500 cut back. Also now having Lyell McEwen linked with Golden Grove and O-Bahn will surely be welcomed by passengers.
Good to see the 530/578 return, which I think will be very popular among Athelstone/Rostrevor residents
I also like the idea of the 500/501/502 linking with the 110/112 West Lakes services and no B10/B12 numbers!! Hopefully this is the beginning of returning our routes as mentioned by Admet 75 above! Another easy and simple move in the near future may be to revert routes such as H21, H23, H24 to 121,124, 126 (Don't use Henley Beach Road despite the H). There are so many more reasonably simple examples we could look at to improve it on this issue. Through running can work well enough with Route numbers - 106 now linked with 167/168 a simple example compared to B10... I know different West direction but you get my drift. Even if the destos said "106 City via Magill Road, Then Glenelg 167" it may be a bit better for some passengers who aren't sure where that bus ends up as opposed to "City via Magill Road, Then Richmond Road", but just a suggestion.
Would anyone know about how many extra buses will be put onto O-Bahn service, now with extra through running, although there often seems to be O-Bahn buses around doing silver shifts, so maybe if they are all put back onto track work they may not need many extra?
I would be interested if South Link would consider through running the 222/224/228 with 720/721/722 as I believe they did previously? Happy to be corrected on that one. Or whether it would be too much hassle, but I do notice a lot of Lonsdale based buses running 222 services during the week.
Overall I see these changes as really good, and some positive additions to our PT Services. Hopefully the cuts won't be too damaging.

Re: October Bus Timetable changes
Agree with both of your comments-well put. Torrens Transit have always been a creative transport operator, its in their/Transit Systems Australia DNA.
Lets hope thay win back their contract areas next year.
As regards additional buses for the O-Bahn,today we found out today that Scania CB 80's 1819,1820,1821,1822 have had guide wheels installed.
Good to see that Adelaide Metro now have on their website a map of stops in and around the nRAH.

I understand quite a few of the CB80s at Port depot will be O-Bahn equipped, as well as several St Agnes O-Bahn buses being relocated to Port.

Re: October Bus Timetable changes
Through routing 224 with 721/722 meant drivers were busting for the loo and seeing how drivers would be driving around 3 hours without a adequate break leading to fatigue and mistakes. Even that 300 is pushing it too far.Route 506 wrote:Agree with these comments from Admet75:

Next station is Victoria Square. Change here for all trains.
Re: October Bus Timetable changes
Most 300 full trips are around 3 hours, with some in peak hours over 3 hours.

Re: October Bus Timetable changes
Not uncommon to do close to the maximum 4 hours 50 minutes without a loo break. Your bladder gets used to it after a while. And if you get desperate you find somewhere en route: there’d be somewhere on a throughlinked outer north/ outer South to relieve oneself: plenty of OTRs these days.
Re: October Bus Timetable changes
I think running that long with no break at all is wrong. Even if it's only a 10 minute turnaround the driver needs that time just to get up and walk around for a while if nothing else.

Ah that's fair enough and makes sense, even the 720 is a fair distance now it goes right through to Old Reynella. Thanks for the clarification.

In the next week changes next week 262F am and pm services have been withdrawn-a saving of 2 buses in the am and 1 in the pm peaks
Re: October Bus Timetable changes
Not quite - the 262F services are still there but have been classified as all stops 262 services. No bus savings there.jibb wrote:In the next week changes next week 262F am and pm services have been withdrawn-a saving of 2 buses in the am and 1 in the pm peaks
The afternoon trips were withdrawn some years ago - again no bus saving there!
Re: October Bus Timetable changes
Some other changes I have noted in the timetables:
556/557/559 (City to Tea Tree Plaza via O-Bahn and Lower North East Road) all 557X (Express) services have been withdrawn
541/542/543/545 in peak hours have become express services to Tea Tree Plaza or was the case before
I am still scratching my head of what improvements have occured to the Suburban Connector Route 300.
As of yesterday only the W90s, J1s and M44 and another timetable was missing from the Info Centre racks.

Another change next week is that 506X and 557X services in the AM will be regular all stops 506 and 557 services to the city. No bus saving there either.

I was driving at Lonsdale depot when we were through running and it never really worked all you needed was a accident on south road or main nth road and you were 45 plus minutes late and quite a headache for coordinators to cover routes

I hear that all Edinburgh buses with Torrens Transit will not be able to use the O-Bahn Tunnel due to no Equipment at Edinburgh Depot.
BUSWAY EQUIPPED:
PLEASE CHECK GUIDEWHEELS

Whats the point of a depot there if buses can't use the O-Bahn? What other routes would it do?Crispy! wrote:I hear that all Edinburgh buses with Torrens Transit will not be able to use the O-Bahn Tunnel due to no Equipment at Edinburgh Depot.
I hear that there are about 20 buses going to be based there?

Should be an interesting couple of days with bus movements
