Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
There is a noticeable portion of land being cleared on Cross Keys road between Lion milk factory and old Bridgestone site. Looks to be the perfect size for a small bus depot.... I'm confident this is the intended location.
Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
2 new CB80 Scania Rigids have been delivered to Light-City Buses Morphettville Depot this morning. Not numbered yet-could be 1815-1816?
Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
Light-City Buses MAN NL202 CNG 1750 has gone back into service after being off the road for a couple of months.

Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
I can't find 1750 on the fleet list. Is this ex city free? What was wrong with it?
Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
The reason it is not on Fleet Lists is that it was supposedly withdrawn, however the engine problems have now been fixed and it is back in service.Should be back on SA lists soon.

Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
I don't think there's much difference between the two; although Goodwood Rd does have the bus lane along it between Grange Rd and Springbank Rd, meaning once the bus gets past Cross Rd; it's usually a decent run through to Ayliffes Rd

Depends what South Road is like. Some days it is a hell of lot quicker when South Road comes to a standstill.Lt. Commander Data wrote:yesterday i saw a 722x on goodwood road...i questioned whether that it would be quicker than south road.

Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
Bit of an oversight in bus desto design, but thankfully uncommon.
Bus number 1323 pulls up at the Port Interchange, bearing "Not in Service". People get up and peer around the front, another lady asks the driver "What bus number are you?"
Sure enough, the bus is now active, but the only way to know is to see what's up above the windscreen. No other part of the bus is designed to indicate a bus route. Having seen the bus as it turned from St Vincent into Commercial Rds, I'm walking up from behind. It could be one of several route numbers and the fact that waiting people have begun to alight, gives the clue.
It was perhaps a design glitch that's since been "addressed". Body built by Custom apparently.

That's the way the whole thing started, silly but it's true ...

Not all operators across Australia have side/rear destos on their fleet, 1320-1324 were purchased from an operator which didn't specify them on their buses.

1301-1306 (ex Melbourne Volvos) and 1385 (ex Melbourne Scania) also only have front destos.
Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
There is news that the Transport Department is withdrawing some of the MAN 11.190 Midis from service starting with Southlink!

Further to the Sunday 5 and Monday 6th event mentioned above, the advert page from NRM's Catchpoint Magazine also mentions "And a Bristol half-cab busotto5013 wrote:Port Festival, first weekend of October.

Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
A new Scania rigid, fleet number 1928, went into service this week with Torrens, based at Newton depot. So if LightCity got the last 2 rigids out of Custom's Royal Park factory when it closed, not sure where 1928 came from. Maybe Scania had one (or more) already built and delivered to them and waiting to enter service before Customs closed. Don't think we'd be getting any Sydney built ones yet?

Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
In actual fact Light-City buses received 3(not 2) new CB80's,which are at Morphettville Depot.None of them have yet been numbered or entered service.
Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
You'll find they will be released from government ownership, which would give to companies to purchase them outright or hand them back.jibb wrote:There is news that the Transport Department is withdrawing some of the MAN 11.190 Midis from service starting with Southlink!

Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
Is there any particular reason for this? Is it to do with their capacity and there being too many in service? That'll be good. More boring K280UBs in service, which will mean less L94UBs out on weekends up north.jibb wrote:There is news that the Transport Department is withdrawing some of the MAN 11.190 Midis from service starting with Southlink!

They are ideal for interpeak on routes such as 404, 462 and Gawler runsTA3001 wrote:Is there any particular reason for this? Is it to do with their capacity and there being too many in service? Next station is Victoria Square. Change here for all trains.

Looking at the Real Time, it seems that Electric trains have made their way onto the weekend timetable
Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
It has been variable. Two weeks ago on the final Saturday of the show there were emus on 3 of the four daytime diagrams, probably because of the heavier traffic. The following Saturday it reverted to 4 demus covering the diagrams. I suspect that one of the constraints may have been the number of drivers trained on the electrics. There are now 9 emus in service (4001,4003-4010) covering on weekdays 6 daytime diagrams, 2 peak (am in, pm out) diagrams leaving one unit spare.citadis203 wrote:Looking at the Real Time, it seems that Electric trains have made their way onto the weekend timetable

Re: [Sep 2014] SA Transport observations
As a point of information eurostar, there was no guesswork on my part. I have seen the lodged plans proposing room for 24 buses, refueling facilities and large lunchroom. .. is has also been reported as plans lodged in last week's northern messenger... maybe my use of the word confident means something different to yours.Eurostar wrote:Why don't you just wait and see rather than guess.thedom wrote:There is a noticeable portion of land being cleared on Cross Keys road between Lion milk factory and old Bridgestone site. Maybe being privy to information required one to sound hesitant to avoid work or media problems.

http://www.adelaidemetro.com.au/Announc ... Bus-detour
Very messed up about the published detour
Bus detour
Bus services will detour as follows:
150 from city - Normal route to Fletcher Road then via Rose Street, Close Street, Hargrave Street, Whyte Street, Matilda Street, Fletcher Road and then via normal route.
150 to city - Normal route.
350 to West Lakes - Normal route to Fletcher Road then via Rose Street, Close Street, Hargrave Street, Whyte Street, Matilda Street, Fletcher Road and then via normal route.
350 to Largs Bay - Normal route
352 Anti-clockwise loop - Normal route to Hargrave Street then via Close Street, Rose Street, Fletcher Road and then via normal route.
353 Clockwise loop - Normal route to Fletcher Road then via Rose Street, Close Street, Hargrave Street then via normal route.
150 from the city detours yet the 350 from West Lakes does not?
And I think the drivers of the 352 and 353 will get confused!
Someone should proof read and check the map before publishing hey?
