Two tank explosions makes them 'unsafe', right... Must just be that 'Australia-itis' where something that works perfectly fine overseas doesn't here. Am certain Euro 6 gas buses are made, and are selling very well in Europe presently. They probably don't need AdBlue or fuel-wasting DPF systems either, so the excuse that current generation diesels are 'cleaner' is likely just a cover story for Brisbane getting a good deal on Volvo diesels, or gas simply not being flavour of the week.

As for driver preference, being in the industry myself, I note that it's normal for drivers to gravitate towards the newest buses in the fleet. Many reasons exist for this - the newer buses are easier to drive (note I didn't say 'well', as that still requires skill!), may be more comfortable for some drivers or some may have an entirely unreasonable prejudice against older buses for whatever reason.

Does anyone see a gas bus out before all of gas buses were withdrawn by 2027?
2027 is a LONG time away. They're still an extremely common sighting. On my commute to the city I'd say about a quarter maybe even a third of buses I see are Gas. At Toowong they are becoming a rarity though

That's what I thought too. 7 years to phase them out is a long time. You would think faster, if they claim they are unsafe?

Considering the last gas bus was delivered at the end of 2009 (fleet number 1523) that is a solid 18 years of service by the time it is withdrawn.

The 2027 target makes sense from the perspective of withdrawing the gas buses after about 15 years of service.

I doubt it. If a vehicle is damaged beyond repair, then it will not be repaired.

Naidoc week has kicked off (8-15 November)

I wonder if this means new aboriginal art themed AOA buses like last year? Presumably not though

I'm guessing Councils strategy was to get 2817 and 18 at Virginia roaming the north side at Virginia and 48 and 49 roaming the west but it looks like they all ended up at Toowong

We will see T2909, the ninth B8RLE Volgren in the 2900 series, out soon. This bus is a Toowong allocation.

When you see 2909, which bus route do you spot 2909's its first running?

Spotted G1614 on a 180 inbound this afternoon. It’s a rare sight seeing an artic rostered on the 180 but coming out of G is something I haven’t seen before. I’ve noted Sherwood artics on the P179/180 a few times but never one from Garden City. I have a pic buts it’s too large to attach.

I have seen these gas artics operating on 180 a couple times, including twice operating the last departure on Fridays.

Spotted T2909 and T2910, both on Routes 385, with all sides covered with ads.

Recently BT has been putting up ads on the new rigid B8s rapidly.

The only time I should be seeing a 385 on the Southside is when it’s at the Cultural Centre. Any further south and I’ll be giving you a map to find your way back across the river!
