Bus Stash In West Gosford.

Post by Swift »

I stumbled on this motley collection the other day in an industrial area as I was driving through West Gosford looking for another address.

Yes you can immediately tell they have different owners by the diverse tastes lol.
I like the split rims on the ex Premier Tiger and the black wheels on the ex Hillsong ex CDC Merc.

If I had to take a guess, the Leyland Custom Coaches (310 I take it?) is an ex Transdev bus of some sort.

I've seen that dark blue & white looking Mercedes before that's in photo 3, is that an ex Fearnes Coaches bus?

Is that an Scania L113TRBL I spot in the 3rd photo as well? Were you able to make out it's fleet number by any chance?

the Ex B10L Austral pacific is intresting, the blue looks familar but can't remember which company it is, I'm thinking this is one that spent time in Wollongong but could be wrong.

It's 3428.

The Tiger looks to be ex Baxters at a guess. The Mark 1 Merc 0305 would be ex Fearnes I believe.

The Leyland Tiger in the first photo would be the chassis that was sitting around somewhere within the depot service area at Bass Hill Bus Service gathering dust for about a decade as it was the second Tiger chassis to be imported to Australia from British Leyland in the early 80s the bus got handed to a few operators after eventually getting built by Custom Coaches in the early 90s

I wonder why an operator of lighter chassis like BH decided to get a premium chassis like this and do nothing with it?
This one has the 215hp motor if it's the bus I'm thinking of. Probably more durable that way.
Funny that such an early chassis was one of the last to get a body and a body that's aged well.

That mk1 Mercedes looks like a perfect candidate to restore to original. Anyone know what is happening with that bus?

Surprising that Baxters sold that Custom 310 Leyland Tiger semi coach to Transit First when they could of held onto it and use it in their post Merrylands route service handover charter only operation

No one wants a Leyland anymore when the alternatives have spare parts backup and less oil leaks!
Great performer in it's day when they were reasonably current.

I think there was another MK1 or MK2 stored there a couple of months ago, all white if I remember correctly.

The Leyland has apparently been parked in the same spot along with the Hiace since the Google Streetview last went through the area.

The owner prefers it in the current appearance.

Poor 3668, I remember riding it for the first time a couple of years back on the free east end loop just before the Newcastle 500 was due to take place. First and last 11.220 I got to ride (I know I'm very late but at least I rode one) unlike the O405N's that Newcastle Transport had, never got to ride either.

Speaking of, was hoping to see the two ex STA / NT Mercedes O405N's here since fleet-list confirms them to be in preservation but doesn't look like their stored here, wonder where they've gone too. I see there's no L113TRB either tho it was last confirmed to be in the hands of the same person who has former m/o 3698 so perhaps it's moved up there.

Thanks again swift for sharing these photos, I figure overtime if the owner(s) don't mind it would be amazing to see more future photos of buses being stored here.
