Where is PR100 - ex ACTION 674 / MTT 10

Post by Mr OC Benz »

Hi guys,

I'm just curious as to whether anyone would have any recent-ish videos and photos of former Renault PR100 ex ACTION 674 and ex MTT 10. Even some old photos that haven't been posted up would be cool to see.

The fleet lists indicate it is at Cavagnagh's in Kempsey and for sale. Is this still the case? Does anyone know what it was like? I think it is a pretty significant bus in terms of history which saw two big orders of the later PR100.2 model for Perth and Canberra.

Would be keen to hear more from anyone???

Regards,

I assume the MACK badge was added after it left Perth?

I'd be keen to see it in MTT livery!

I think the Mack name was applied at one time combination of the Rainbow warrior bombing and the Mururoa and Fangataufa Atolls Nuclear testing in 1985 and anything with a French name was changed or a French product was pulled from shop shelves.

Thanks for those pics. I had seen some on perthbus.info and also in the ACT Bus gallery. A recent visit through France inspired me to look back a bit in the history, in particular Canberra as they have had a handful of evaluation buses which have body style characteristics much closer to their European counterparts as oppose to say Sydney or Perth.

I wonder how much they would be wanting for it? Being from Perth, I've never really been a fan of the PR100.2, but photos and videos of the older PR100 (overseas of course), particularly when fitted with ZF have caught my attention much more. According to a few websites, the Paris Transport Museum which has a fair amount of these has still not reopened which was a pity when going through a couple of weeks ago.

13 years with Cavanagh's. That's a good second innings.

Half true. The Mack name came about because Canberra brought their buses through Mack Trucks Australia as the local distributors. The Canberra buses carried the Mack name and Renault logo. So nothing what so ever to do with the issue you mention above. The question is why didn't the Perth units carry Mack branding. (except of course the demo unit)

There was however an a political issue when Canberra was receiving the last of their PR100.3's in 1995/96 (having received a couple of hundred PR100.2 and PR180.2's). The PR100.3's didn't have any Mack branding having just the Renault logo on the front and the words Renault on the sides of the rear bumper. Due to political pressure at the time the decision was made to remove all Renault branding on the outside of the last 6 buses on order, these instead carry a Mack Buldog on the front and no branding on the rear bumper.

I like it with the old school style windows. It would have looked nice if they had the black anodized finish.
