From the media release:

Bus journeys will be safer for passengers and drivers with the network-wide implementation of boarding through all doors over the next 18 months – helping passengers maintain distance and reduce crowding at bus stops.

The Department of Transport and bus operators will work with passengers to transition to this new model, which will be made possible by the permanent removal of cash transactions on board buses using myki from 13 July, with all passengers required to travel with a valid myki that has been topped up ahead of time.

So with middle/back door boarding allowed even more people will travel without paying than is already happening. No wonder the state is going broke.

It won't make any difference. Many people already travel without paying when entering through the front door as they know the driver won't say anything and inspectors are never seen. They think having a phone in their hand when getting on a bus is more important than a myki. This lack of accountability would only happen in Victoria. As you said, it's no wonder the state is going broke.

This has probably been reported elsewhere, but I’ve noticed this week that a number of Sita buses now have Transit Systems stickers.

And some of the charter buses have been fully signwritten for Transit Systems as well.

The photo on the website (https://www.transitsystems.com.au/victo ... nformation) used to have SITA branding (see http://web.archive.org/web/202003261347 ... formation/), but now have been photoshopped to show Transit Systems branding.

I have noticed that Christians Bacchus Marsh now have a P&D bodied Hino, numbered 813. Looks like a new vehicle (rego starts with BS05), but I'm not entirely sure.

Surfcoast Shire is running a free bus known as "The Surf Coaster" between Torquay and Jan Juc this summer to 26th January 2021. The 24 seat carbon neutral service will run every day between 10am and 6pm from 26th December 2020 to 26th January 2021 and includes 13 key stops in an average 30 minute loop, starting at Spring Creek Reserve each morning. Looks like its a McHarrys mini bus and it also has a trailer to hold surfboards although the trailer is not mentioned on the Surfcoast Shire website currently.
