PTV website is advising a new trial service between Barmah and Echuca with service starting on Jan 24. https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/getting-arou ... k-changes/

It is shown as Route 8, run by Dysons Moama.

This is a fortnightly service, described as operating every second Thursday.

https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/route/view/13454/

However, despite the promise of operating dates (see extract below), the timetable doesn't actually tell you which Thursdays it runs (apart from 24th being the first).

While one might print out the pdf timetable it's pretty useless unless one also carries a calendar that goes back to January 2019 and doesn't miss anything when counting fortnights.

Instead the expectation appears to be that one should use the journey planner before travelling.

Are those likely to use this type of shopper-style service up for that?
To Echuca
Operates to Echuca via Cummeragunja and Moama. Commences from the Barmah terminus in Maloney St opposite Barmah Hotel, at the corner of Murray St and travels via Murray St, Barmah Rd, Cummeragunja Dr, George St, Tongala Ave, George St, Cummeragunja Dr, Barmah Rd, Cobb Hwy, Blair St, Service Rd (Moama), Cobb Hwy, Heygarth St and High St to the terminus at the corner of Darling St, Echuca.

To Barmah
Operates to Barmah via Moama and Cummeragunja. Commences from Echuca Backpackers stop on High St and travels via High St, Heygarth St, Cobb Hwy, Blair St, Service Rd (Moama) Blair St, Meninya St, Cobb Hwy, Barmah Rd, Cummeragunja Dr, George St, Tongala Ave, George St, Cummeragunja Dr, Barmah Rd and Murray St to the terminus at the corner of Murray St and Maloney St, Barmah. PLEASE NOTE: This trial service operates fortnightly- every second Thursday with two return services. Please refer to PTV website for all dates.
(given this is a trial service, one wonders how serious PTV is about giving it a fair go if only incomplete information is provided - though to be fair frequencies worse than weekly are harder to communicate)

Yet another V/line coach has arrived, I’m guessing its fleet #1105

893 returned to service after its accident in October, you’ll find it looks slightly different now...

I've been wondering for some time why many train and tram replacement buses have the letter "R" or "S" next to the fleet numbers, what do these stand for? Also, what's the reason for new buses during the past year ( both Dysons & East West ) being in PTV livery? I'm assuming that's a PTV decision and all new buses will now be in PTV livery, is that correct?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that all buses that were funded under contract via PTV are to be in the PTV livery.

Thanks,
Mitch

A few buses from regional depots have been spotted in Melbourne helping out with rail work. I’m guessing it’s put on cover for 424, 422 and 262.

I've noticed that East West buses have had their logos changed to Dysons. A few Dysons liveried buses (both from Bundoora and ex Reservoir ones) have also been operating on the 561 recently, so is this the end of East West? As East West buses have only been operated by Dysons since 2012 it would make a lot of sense.

I wonder if the legal operator of the 561 which is East West Bus Co.(VIC)Pty.Ltd. has been changed to L.C.Dysons Bus Services Pty.Ltd in the recent contract renewals.
That would also apply to the 570 too.Richard, has Dysons logo buses operated on the 570 ?

I only noticed the changes on the 561 this week at Reservoir Station when going to work and back so I can't confirm if the Dysons logo buses have operated on the 570, but I'm assuming they would. I hope to find out soon.

At Reservoir Station today I noticed the 301 buses also have the Dysons logo so it's highly likely this applies to the 570 as well. Fleet Lists and PTV Livery Buses & Coaches can be updated when that's confirmed.

Hello,

Re-branding of the East West fleet began week of May 20th.
Buses 478, 809, 867, 882 and 936 are still in the East West colours...
All other East West buses have had the Dysons logos applied.

#772 and #784 were operating on 561 this week, in lieu of 1023 and 1050, which were up at Bundoora having their operator logos changed.

Earlier today I caught #349 on the 566. It's unusual to see a bus from an East West route operating elsewhere, even if it now has the Dysons logos.

I recently noticed buses #478 & #867 are now in full Dysons livery, and not only operating on the 561 but other routes as well. I'm just wondering if all East West buses have now changed to Dysons. The ones I'm not sure about are #809, #882 & #936, can anyone confirm?

Hello Richard (and others),

#882 and #936 are now wearing the green Dysons livery.
#809 is the last bus undergoing this treatment.

All East West buses have become "Dysons" buses. There is no longer an East West brand.
The ex-East West buses at Reservoir have pretty much been sticking to their allocated runs... although on a weekend, you may spot #478 on an ex-Reservoir run. On Monday (29th July) #478 filled in for #779.
When #478 returned from being re-sprayed it did the 567 on the Saturday and the 553 on a Sunday.

Keep an eye out for #936.... it tends to make appearances on other routes that Bundoora depot operate.

I also saw #478 on the 552 on Tuesday (30th July) and #867 did the 552 on Sunday (21st July). Also on 21st July, #1083 was on the 561. Buses from the Bundoora depot seem to be appearing there more often now.

Hello...

Sighted #809 back this evening (Thursday 1st August) running services on Route 555 / 556.
A number of buses had been moved around today.... so I guess time will tell.

"Bundoora buses" which are based at Reservoir for the south roster, often fill in on the ex-Reservoir side of things when a regular bus is off for servicing.
Often if an Optimus bus has gone up to Bundoora for servicing, they get one back in return.

#867 isn't normally rostered to run Sundays, so you may see that out and about on ex-Reservoir Bus runs on that day.

The repainting actually gives a little more flexibility of 'newer' buses to be put on track on weekends, reducing the number "Bundoora" buses in the 700's based at Reservoir that run ex-Reservoir Bus services.

#321 and #349 are now spares.

I'm just wondering why there are no buses numbered between 1121 & 1175, are the missing numbers reserved to be used later? I'm also curious why ex East West buses #1 & #2 were renumbered 799 & 801 when Dysons took over Reservoir Bus Co./East West, what happened to 800?

800 was a very old vehicle and was withdrawn just after the takeover
