Yesterday's sightings at Ringwood: Gemilang 138 on the 901, a "square" Designline SmartBus on the 380, and Volgren 23 (I didn't see where it was going).

I've noticed some of the newer Transdev buses have been installed with the new Myki readers - 144 and 143 seem to be two.
Protip: Don't touch on or off holding your Myki's long edge horizontal - it risks getting caught under the moulding surrounding the screen...

Was on bus 149 the other day and noticed that in addition to the new readers, the bus had a new bus drivers console installed. A much more compact unit with a card slot on top and a separate small printer. Of the buttons; 3 were backlit green, although one changed everyone now and then between green and red. The drivers were still were still working out how to operate the new unit.
For example of new unit:https://railgallery.wongm.com/myki/F113_3307.jpg.html
Also whilst the new buses are yet to have PIDs fitted, the voice over announcements were working when on DART runs.

Bus 148 (Scania K310UB/Gemilang); rego BS03LG, has entered service. Was operating one of many 'Special' services from the City-Lonsdale St to Eltham for rail replacements.
Bus 153 has also entered service (did not see rego).

#153's rego is BS03LL (was spotted on 902 the other day and managed to catch it)
I can also confirm that bus #146 gemilang has started service so this also can be added to the PTV livery forum

Route 902 from at least Tuesday through to today has not been running the Greensborough to Templestowe part of the route via Eltham, but has instead run express along the 901 via Para and Main Rds, before resuming the route in Fitzsimons La. Transdev Twitter feed and the PTV app have both suggested passengers should use the trains or other services to get to Greensborough to join the route.

This is due to the rail line closure producing a large increase in traffic via Fitzsimons La, also backing back to Eltham and Lower Plenty in both directions along Main Rd. Not sure how much time will be saved given 901 and 293 services have also been delayed 30-40 minutes. Also a bit disappointing no alternatives have been provided, even if only run between Eltham and Greensborough. Unsurprisingly near empty route 902 buses have been arriving in Templestowe. Not complaining about getting a large choice of seats... :)

Friday the route 902 was running as normal.

In the Diamond Valley Leader dated Wednesday March 21, page 4 has a paragraph mentioning a trial of an express bus service from Eltham station to Parliament Station during the 6 weeks of rail works. Buses depart Eltham station at 6.38am, 6.53am, 7.14am, 7.27am each weekday morning, along with a 7.04am departure from Eltham Lower Park.
Return buses depart Parliament at 5.01pm, 5.19pm, 5.40pm, 6.02pm and 6.17pm.
The PTV website also has an article at https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/live-travel- ... pril-2018/ including an update that:
"We have evaluated the first week of the trial service, and will introduce a new timetable next week to provide even more options for people in Eltham.
From Monday 26 March, express buses will now depart Lower Eltham Park to Parliament on weekdays (excluding school holidays) at 7.04am (arrving 8.04am), 7.45am (arriving 8.45am) and 8.30am (arriving 9.30am)."
It should be noted the above paragraph hints there may not be express buses during the holidays (not mentioned in the Leader article), and the brochure on the PTV page confirms this to be the case. There is also a survey on the above PTV page for people affected by the Hurstbridge line closure to have their say, for what it's worth...

The new Gemilangs keep rolling into service - yesterday #159 (BS03LR) was on 246 while #160 (BLS03LS) was on 232. Meanwhile, #161 (BS03LT) has been added to the fleet list as active.

Transdev tweeted there will continue to be a limited number of express buses over the holidays with only a 6.38am and 6.53am from Eltham, and the 5.01pm from Parliament. https://twitter.com/Transdev_Melb/statu ... 2881796096

Bit sad this has happened although they were getting quite old (the seats were starting to get a bit rough as well) in addition to no air cons. When I saw the myki equipment removed I thought they were going to do rail replacement duties before they retired and got scrapped.

In addition, this also means that bus #300 is the only high-floor left in the entire Transdev fleet.

Two more Scania Gemilangs for Transdev out in traffic - #162 (BS03LV) was spotted on the Frankston Line during this weekend's occo, while #163 was noted out on 902 this afternoon.

Hello

I've been noticing some of the first batch of gemilangs have been frequently running on various Doncaster depot routes (especially DART) over the past 2 weeks. Beginning to think that they are progressively being transferred back to Doncaster as the new batch begin to operate orbital services (I.e, #111 was on route 905 on Saturday and #116 was on route 281).

Around about 4pm this afternoon, I saw 5160 and 323 on Maroondah Hwy, heading towards Mitcham, school runs perhaps?
