PTV website timetables have been updated. They show the revised night network starting 24/9/2021.

Meanwhile some Transdev routes that were to get timetable changes from September 19 have had their finish date put back to 31 December 2021.

The 19 September finish date for these online timetables has been reinstated. No future timetables viewable yet.

More on Keysborough's 816 from the Dandenong Star Journal.

It will start on November 28 with timetable out a month prior.

815 will be deleted with trips folded into an upgraded 813.

The new 788 timetable (starting 14 Nov) is now on the PTV website. Includes longer operating hours and improved frequency over most of route.
At most times only every second trip will extend west of Sorrento, reducing weekday service from 40 to 60 min on this quiet portion.

PTV item here: https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/footer/about ... -peninsula

Although the frequency improvements are very welcome what has happened to the proposed express service to the peninsula? It is a painfully slow trip on the 788.

As far as services from Sorrento to Portsea are concerned I sometimes wonder if the whole service could be curtailed at Sorrento because usage past there is low from what I have seen. This section could be covered by an extension of local route 787.

No date yet for the express but 'coming soon'. It will be a modification of the 887.

New FlexiRide bus for Melton South.

Key attribute is it will run 7 days, the first metropolitan FlexiRide to do so.

Starts December 12, 2021.

PTV has rejigged the FlexiRide page and added Melton.

You can see it here: https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/more/travell ... flexiride/

As well as the Sunday service mentioned above is that DoT, with a stated aim of making travel simpler, manages to botch
the service arrangements for public holidays. It does this by introducing unique arrangements applying only to this route.

Instead of running a Saturday timetable on most public holidays (except Good Fri & Christmas Day when it's a Sunday timetable)
as is the standard for trains and most buses, the Melton South FlexiRide will only run a Sunday service on all public holidays.
The practical effect of this is a later am start time on public holidays. It will also make communicating bus service arrangements
on public holidays even harder than it is now.

Minimum standards and seven days on a FlexiRide service, shock horror! Got to love the double standards when it comes to Lilydale and Rowville, no wonder no-one bothers touching on (although Ventura still gets paid regardless of how utterly useless their services are or how "empty" they run e.g. 30 people boarding a 670 at Ringwood with about two that actually touched on).

Doesn't appear to have been promoted anywhere but PTV website is showing that the 700 Christmas shopper Chadstone-Oakleigh express started in November.

https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/route/timeta ... n-express/

Last year they promoted it with this item: https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/news-and-eve ... ng-centre/

Don't think this was ever reported here, but new tram timetables from 19 Dec.
https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/footer/about ... -route-58/

I'm not sure which depot operates the E class on route 58, but I did see fleet 6100 (the newest one) on the route.

A custom for a diminishing number of Melbourne bus routes is reduced services over summer. Some of the last hold-outs have been routes 503, 506 and 733 (despite the last two being very popular). Anyway according to PTV's website timetables, none of these will have reduced services this summer. On the other hand there's been no formal announcement of what is effectively a service increase. Or maybe reduced services are running and PTV hasn't uploaded the timetable data?

UPDATE 1: Latter the case. Holiday timetables for 503 & 506 published on Moonee Valley Bus Lines Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/MVCoaches/phot ... 976910723/ Effective 24 Dec 2021 to 17 Jan 2022.

UPDATE 2: PTV actually do know about it but you need to be VERY observant to see the reduced timetables on their website. There's no indication if you just look at the timetable page for a route like 503. But if you go to 'line information' you see a little exclamation mark and an even smaller '1'. That takes you to a little note. Clicking on that takes you to this page which has old-style PDF reduced summer timetables. https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/disruptions/ ... nuary-2022

On the other side of the coin, the 788 was meant to get a 30 min weekend frequency during the busiest 6 weeks over Dec/Jan, as promised at: https://www.ptv.vic.gov.au/footer/about ... peninsula/

However the current timetable on the PTV website is still showing a 40 min frequency in one direction and an 80 min frequency in another.

Definitely the season to be especially wary of what appears on the PTV website!

One small but worthwhile improvement I noticed is an increase in frequency of the Route 82 service between around 1000 to 1400 on weekdays from 20 to 15 minutes.

Pretty sure I saw a FB post from Moonee Valley sometime last week with the reduced holiday timetable.
