Tassielink - Main Road service - final service

Post by Stormmm »

Today, Saturday 29th February marks the final day of the Devonport - Launceston - Hobart return service.

From the Tassielink website:

"After 17 years of providing an express service between Hobart – Launceston and Devonport connecting to the sailings of the Spirit of Tasmania, the service will cease to operate with the last service being 29th February 2020. With the new contact review conducted by Department of State Growth (DSG ) no longer requiring Tassielink’s contracts Hobart to West Coast, Launceston West Coast and our connections to St Helens, the role of the Main road express is no longer sustainable in our network as this service is totally funded by collected fares. The Main road has played a huge part of our tourism network, especially connections to the Spirit ships and providing an alternative travel for main road travel between Devonport – Launceston - Hobart from our state-wide contracted services. Tassielink would like to thank everyone for their support with this service over the years . We have developed many close working relationships near and far which we are very thankful . We hope to continue these relationships further into the future as our other services continue to grow . For future enquires regarding main road travel please refer to Redline for information."
