Re: TerritoryTransit Scania Artics
Will be interesting to see in the future how the new tenders, if they do exist will affect the operations or both companies.
It would be significantly easier to have just one operator or maybe one operator for Schools and the other for Urban however that is unlikely. Personally I prefer TT to Buslink. This could be biased because of the significantly higher amount of TT services I've caught as opposed to Buslink. None the less I personally find TT drivers to be more relaxed and less up tight. I can't think if any TT drivers that are rude, certainly come nicer then others but none that stick out. Obviously bus driving is not the nicest job considering the abuse they get but there are a number of drivers at Buslink who are blatantly rude. The worst I've seen is one driver pulling out while a pregnant woman was trying to find a seat and then telling her she should have hurried up. That in my opinion is no way to treat anyone. Not only that I find TT operations to be more relaxed aswell. That's my personal opinion and I'm welcome to any ciritsm.
Depot wise I believe that plan was for a replacement Depot. Where this would be located I have no idea. TT's yard does appear to be full though so any major expansion would likely warrant a move. As you noted TT is located far better for Darwin and Casuarina services. This is one good thing for Buslink as they are located pretty much in the middle of all 3. Interestingly Buslink allocates 18 minutes to drive from their depot to Palmerston when starting the shift. TT assigns just 20. Therefore only 2 minutes supposedly separates the depots which is certainly not true.
If TT were to move I think it would depend greatly on their where a majority of their services would he. At the moment alot of shifts start at Darwin or Casuarina which works well for them. If they were to get a significant chunk of the Palmerston runs then maybe there would be a reason to move.
One thing I would like to see is for TT to get rural runs. E.g. 440, 445, 446, 447, 450. They currently don't have any of these. Routes 16, 17, 24, 28, 77 and all rural runs are only operated by Buslink. On the other hand 15, 87 and 88 are exclusive to TT. The addition of 87 and 88 could be the start of more TT services moving to Palmerston.

Re: TerritoryTransit Scania Artics
An interesting observation for Monday 20/04/2020, both myself and Scania3000 (Merc1107) have noticed 121A on the bus tracker, awaiting time to commence an 11ib. Do any of our resident Darwinites know if 121A has infact made it out on the road today?

You could've mentioned that it seemingly did the 51 school service beforehand Bit out of the ordinary if true.

Re: TerritoryTransit Scania Artics
Once again today, 22/04/2020, Bus-1773 and Merc1920 (Bus-1809 and Merc1107) have noticed that 121A is showing on the bus tracker. Obviously a positive sign that 121A is out and about. 122A seems to have disappeared from the radar though.

Re: TerritoryTransit Scania Artics
G'day
121A was also seen last Friday, the 17th and was replacing 122A on the morning i21. 122A had been sent out for all other days that week. However in the afternoon 122A was sent out for the second half and on it's way back to Darwin City for the final i6 it broke down. It was soon replaced by 079R and left 20 minutes late at 1755. I unfortunately was waiting for this bus, when it arrived the driver informed me his bus had broken down and was sorry for the delay.
Indeed the Artic was today allocated to a shift it doesn't often take (1208) Could be due to lack of available buses or some other reason.
As far as it goes this week the OL1 shift it usually takes is being run by casual which is likely why it hasn't been seen this week if it has been fixed yet.

Glad they are both still kicking around. Has 88 made its debut into service yet?
It's my understanding the next CB80 Mercedes for TT has been built and is awaiting the trip to the N.T.

Good to see the old girls still making their way around, that's for sure. Both getting more use out of them at the moment which is good.
088R is yet to make it's inaugural run so still eagerly awaiting that .
Good to here that 089? Is ready to go. Although I'd guess it might be a while due to mandatory quarantine. Not sure if that would qualify for an exception but maybe it will.

A week or so ago, two buses were transferred from Perth to a regional town despite travel between regions (excepting essential services) being banned.Darwin bus lover wrote:Not sure if that would qualify for an exception but maybe it will.
I shouldn't think this unit would be much different if they were to drive it up to Darwin - which is what I think they do for deliveries... If it went on the back of a train, I can't see anything holding it up.

Re: TerritoryTransit Scania Artics
I hope so, would be nice to have another new bus ready to go.
Interesting that 088R still hasn't gone out yet. I'm sure there is a good reason.
Also not sure of 214. On Fleets list it still has " to be delivered" so I'm going with that, unless you know otherwise?

Re: TerritoryTransit Scania Artics
The bus that Merc1107 mentions is a CB80 Merc, which would make it consistent with TT's recent delivery.
Cheers!

Your guess is as good as mine, I'm afraid - yet to have heard of any sighted. Judging by information on the fleet lists, it should be bodied at Volgren's Dandenong plant in Victoria.Darwin bus lover wrote:Also not sure of 214. Oh well, only time will tell. Still gonna be eagerly awaiting for the magical 088R to appear on the bus tracker or rock up at an interchange.

Re: TerritoryTransit Scania Artics
88 update.
I spoke to a driver just this morning and he noted that training for the new 88 bus has started, apparently because the setup is slightly different and a new emergency acceleration button has been fitted all drivers must be shown the changes before it can be sent out for service.

Re: TerritoryTransit Scania Artics
Great to hear some action regarding 88R progressing towards service.
I was doing some calculations the other night and I have a feeling that 121 and 122 aren't going anywhere just yet.
My guess is that 88 will replace 118, 89 will replace 119 and 90 will assume 123's position when it goes over to Wagait Beach.
Darwin bus lover, I sent you a PM a week or so ago. Check your inbox.

Re: TerritoryTransit Scania Artics
I guess we'll see what bus stops appearing on the tracking from this point, then.
Mr. Bus-1809, I think you'll find your calculations have replaced the Wagait Beach schoolbus twice
As an example - 88 replaces 123, 123 goes to WB, 118 comes back a withdrawn bus.

Noted today by Renault1089 was 121A and 122A both out and about in the PM Peak.
I've noted also that 119R has not been seen recently... Has it and 118R been withdrawn, or are they still in service?

Good work, Jibb! Well done!
I'd be guessing that as soon as the borders open up, that 118R will probably be not too far behind. 089R is I believe at TSA Leichardt Depot at the moment, or somewhere within the NSW Borders.

Thanks for the update. Has this resulted in another bus heading to Wagait Beach, or replaced something in Darwin?Darwin bus lover wrote: ↑Sat Aug 08, 2020 1:58 pm Bus 089R has entered service today, august the 8th 2020. On shift 2100

I believe so, bus 118 is back in the depot. Spotted today so I believe either 120 or 123 has headed over? Could be wrong about that but one of them is there now.

Can confirm bus 123R is replacing 118R and is now over there running services.
