Looks like the STA are trying to shaft their employees . Looks like they need to sing The Strawbs song' You don't get me I'm part of the union" http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... dOCWUgwiWs

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations July 2012.
Just out of curiosity, what seems to go wrong with the buses the most? These new Scanias seem to be a bit unreliable for how new they are? Well that's my uneducated perception anyhow from driving around for work... Ive never seen a Metro crew near the old Scanias and the artics(although I'm sure it happens!)

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations July 2012.
I think Scanias are generally fairly well-regarded, Daniel. I'm just a driver, so I don't have a mechanic's opinion, but where I work in Melbourne at the moment, they have given up MANs for Scanias/Volvos and just about every mechanic I spoke to said they are a better bus. Admittedly, they are a much newer than the MANs. Tassielink has been buying new Scania low-floors for a while and they seem to have given very little trouble, at least when I was there. I think some of them up close/above 200,000km now (not much for a bus I know, but they're not spring chickens). Metro's fleet is mainly Scania, and it has a lot of old ones that seem to be fairly good, but I think they maintain them very well, at least in comparison to some other operators.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations July 2012.
And technically that would be correct Fleet Lists.
I believe 237 was purchased and operated as "Metro Regional" (yes it had HC logo's on it) to bring them in line with the minimum wheelchair percentage of services.
Mr L94 - coach 11 was the last of the vehicles that were transferred to Metro operations from Hobart Coaches.
After that time, they were vehicles Metro already owned - 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 237. The only exception to that was 13.

Re: Tasmanian Bus Observations July 2012.
Had #303 and #243 today. Didn't realise #243 lost it's go-bus advertising and it's got a new rear advertisement some drugs & alcohol service Holyoake or something, she looks a treat all nice and slick. Also #332 has a new side advertisement the new "FREE" Greencard for Metro. Only seen it today it was doing a School Bus run for Glenorchy. so fair bit happening on the advertising side. Oh did I mention #222 has a RED SHIELD APPEAL very small ad for Salavation Army.
