158 Bus Route?
In the early morning, around 7am and around 4pm the 158 operates from manly to and from Cromer "Business Park". Is this some kind of disability workers bus (like the 137 and the 291) or is this just a bus that they haven't been bothered to cancel yet? The morning service has an artic but that is probably just because it continues as a popular school service.

Re: 158 Bus Route?
The bus that operates the service appears to operate a popular 188 inbound and 180 outbound service before the 158, and goes on to operate a popular school service afterwards. I think it must have just been added into the artic shift because thats where it fits. Not sure of its history or why it has survived so long though.

It's to service the Cromer industrial area, and gets quite a decent loading

Re: 158 Bus Route?
Interesting the "291" gets mentioned, as until I looked it up on the Transport NSW website, didn't realise there was more than one of them.
The "291" I was thinking of was the Sydney Buses route from Epping to McMahons Point via Pacific Highway (which is a full-time service), but perhaps the other "291" was being referenced, which shows up as a school bus from Frenchs Forest Showground to Chatswood operated by Forest [Coach Lines].
Oddly it operates at 4pm which does seem late for a school bus, but then again I don't know the area so can't comment much further.

Re: 158 Bus Route?
Forest uses certain 1xx and 2xx numbers as their school bus routes, so anything that duplicates with a STA route number is guaranteed to be a school bus. There is also school bus 273, 278 and 276, all of which are also their public routes, and this causes quite a bit of confusion...
Re: 158 Bus Route?
The 4pm trip out of Chatswood would most likely be for students who have come by train or bus from several of the private schools in the North Sydney area.

^It runs from Frenchs Forest to Chatswood only, departing at 4pm and arriving at Chatswood Interchange at 4:30.

Re: 158 Bus Route?
I was told by someone (probably on this forum) that the 291 is a bus for disability workers at Aruma (formerly house with no steps) and is marked as a school bus so other people don't get on.
Re: 158 Bus Route?
the 291 goes from Belrose area to Chatswood, doesn't go near the House with No Steps.
You're thinking of the 137, which is a public run

So had a look at Google Maps a bit closer and that "291" bus does start from Aruma ("House With No Steps")... but the one in Belrose on Blackbutts Road, which makes a lot of sense now, especially given the time it leaves there.

Re: 158 Bus Route?
I wonder if TfNSW reads this forum because the 158 is getting cancelled from the changes that were announced today.
