When I was a real young bloke, I used to check under every single thing I sat on to make sure there were no spiders under there, especially the dunny. Partly because of an OCD, partly because I got bit on the arse by a spider one day on the dunny... Yes, there was a song about just that, much to the pleasure and joy of my family and subsequently every single person in the world they spoke to... "Ohh, have you met my son?? He got bit on the arse by a spider..." "What, like in the song??" "Yeah! Just like that..." which inevitably meant the recital of one or two lines from it. Up yours, Mum & Dad..! I can't believe I shared that...

Balloons and bees.

I now have no fear of balloons, but I now hate (not fear) bees.

Getting sucked down the bowl of a public toilet if someone in the neighbouring cubicle flushed theirs.
You used to have to pay money to see a freak show; now you have to pay NOT to.

Two major fears:

1. Walking into an orb spider web, a fear which I still have.

2. That Nikki Webster would sing, a fear which was realised during the Sydney Olympics.

Spiders and still do.

Dogs can sense when you are scared so the trick is to try not to show fear. Trouble is, that is easier said than done.

My biggest fear as a child was death...the idea that this will all end one day spooks me.

I feel your pain. I often jump too when a loco or X'trap horn sounds in close range...

Kind Regards

When I was a kid growing up in Auckland, before the Harbour Bridge was built, to get to the North Shore by car meant taking the vehicle ferry to Devonport. As we had a batch
(beach house) at Castor Bay we went nearly every weekend.

I was always terrified that the ferry would leave just as dad was driving the car down the ramp onto the ferry. So I used to get out and walk onto the ferry; stuff the rest of the family.

The upside was that when we arrived in Devonport there was always a line of North Shore Transport buses waiting for the passenger ferry to arrive. The odd thing was that they all faced away from the wharf towards the main road. They had a destination sign above the back window so that people approaching from the ferry knew which bus to get. (No route numbers in those days.)

My greatest fear has always been the Unknown. 8 times out of 10, after I have done something I will really enjoy it, it's just doing it that first time when you don't know what's going to happen.

Also, (this actually happened) being involved in a car crash
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

I hated deep water, since I was dumped by a wave at Pearl Beach. Even now, I don't like it.
