I haven't worked in the school sector but previously being a student of the NSW DET If I have have to say something, it's going to be don't expect anything to come of it. They will downplay all serious issues & will just about side with schools on every matter. The only thing they can do is put out a half-baked sorry but not sorry spin if this issue goes public (makes papers, tv / media) . If they say "we're investigating" it's actually translation for that they've glossed over it but couldn't care to take any further action.

The people who did the wrong thing in your scenario are 99% more than likely to go free with little no repercussion, it'll be covered up and that's probably the last the school will want to deal with it. No wonder there is so many bullying & anti-social behavior in schools it's because they just want to wipe their hands off of it and can't care to put any real effort into resolving it. You also wonder why bullies get away with their antics and the poor guy standing up for themselves is the one who faces the most punishment.

I have a feeling its not the fault of the bullies or the victim, its more about our society, we don't seem to look at what the bully themselves has gone through and what may have caused the person to.become a bully, this may be that they see other people doing it, they are bullied at home or they want justice on people that bullied them.

Some of the idiots that were filming the person's bottom I already knew them by name so I reported one of them that i clearly remember to a staff member. I'm hoping action will be taken. Some people in society today are too blind to look at the bigger picture. It cheesed me seeing the scenario I saw a few days ago and I'm still very cheesed and angry now. Some people I talked to were quite spooked with what I saw. It makes it worse that i saw phones being used IN A BATHROOM. When you bring a phone into a bathroom you are already taking a huge risk.

I was told by the idiots "Oh its just a joke." In my mind it isn't a joke, its still creating pornography whether its intended to be a joke or not. and who knows where the footage has ended up. The idiots ran away moments after i called them out hoping i'd forget what they did.

You'll find when it comes to retaliation against bullies, teachers are *expected* to punish whomever participates in any wrong-doing; it's keeping up appearances, have to be seen to be enforcing the rules.

Off the record and in private, they're often very supportive of someone standing up for themselves!

With this being a family friendly board I won't go into detail but I will say Schools that follow a zero-tolerance system are generally not the greatest nor do they handle matters too well.

Defend yourself? Well as far as the school board is concerned, your just as worse as your bully. What else are you meant to do when someone is attacking you & you can't flee? I would rather the school board say "While we don't agree on your chosen method of how you fought back, we would rather see Students in certain situations being able to defend themselves in an suitable matter rather than them ending up in the Hospital or off school". If you can at least push a bully off and then safely flee to a safe place then the school shouldn't have grounds to suspend you, it again should come under self defense. If you then continue to fight back then I can see why the school would suspend you.

As for Motormnibus8562's post, I reckon a visit from the local police needs to be organised and have them (police) come up on stage at the next school assembly & lay down how there is serious repercussions for the acts those people in Motors post committed. If you've ever heard or seen what happens to people who do that kind of stuff, let's just say it follows them for the rest of their lives and makes living freely much more difficult. Maybe then after there's been a serious talking they'll perhaps wake up to themselves and realise just how serious it is and how much it can change your life for the worst.

Railpage was up for something like a week (if that), not long after my previous post, and has once again s&#t the bed, with the same old Secure Connection Failed error coming up in Firefox once again. So, my belated rant that would have been in the Railpage Melbourne Suburban section can go here instead, as the Bus Australia Melbourne forum has been dead quiet all year and I'm getting sick of being one of the only people to post there.

Late Sunday night (7/2/21) there were buses replacing trains on the Lilydale/Belgrave/Alamein lines due to an overhead power issue between Camberwell and Burnley, resulting in those trains terminating at Camberwell with bustitution to meet the trains coming from Glen Waverley at Burnley (conveniently, the Metro Trains Melbourne website has removed any trace of that event happening). I caught the last up Lilydale train for the night (headed by X'Trapolis fleet leader 851M "Iramoo"), which arrived at Camberwell just after midnight as normal, but the rail replacement bus (a Mee's Mercedes/Volgren CR225L ex-Perth) went the wrong way* and dumped everyone at Richmond instead.

* The usual rail bus route from Camberwell to Burnley is via Burwood Rd, stopping at Auburn, Glenferrie and Hawthorn stations, then the bus continues over Hawthorn Bridge, turns at Yarra Blvd for Swan St and then continues to the Glen Waverley line level crossing on Madden Grove, over the tracks and taking a clockwise tour around the back streets to the south of Burnley station to terminate outside platform 1.

Everything was fine, until the driver forgot to turn at Madden Grove. Instead of terminating at Burnley, we continued along Swan St, up and over the rail bridge, stopped at the Burnley St traffic lights which just happened to be red (we were in the left lane, right next to the route 70 tram stop with Burnley station just 50m away), people expected the doors to open, and then the light went green and the bus took off towards the city, past Church St (East Richmond station), under the Richmond rail viaduct, and dumped everyone opposite Richmond station before disappearing into the distance to do a U-turn to head back along Swan St. By the time we got to Richmond, there were no trains as I assume the up Glen Waverley was long gone (I don't think Metro even bothered to add an extra one, as the last up Lilydale is usually the very last train on a Sunday timetable); the PSOs showed that there were no more services whatsoever (even down trains) on the LCD monitors, the station staff were long gone (by this time it was around 12:30AM, if not later) and the PSOs promptly closed the roller shutters leaving everyone on the street. Cue a number of calls to ubers and taxis, which all appeared in around five minutes.

Unfortunately a lot of people have moved on from here or gone onto Facebook themselves & joined the gated communities & unless you know someone inside said community or you join yourself, you have no clue what's being posted inside of there. Just think of what's being shared there that the rest of those outside the groups may never get to know about, my gripe is what if it's important or historical information? Some people will hold the key and from their POV the puzzle piece fits but if your outside of the group you'll again have no idea about it and the piece will be missing from your POV unable to be completed. (Unless of course you join in)

To the RETRACTED RETRACED who keeps calling my mobile phone with no caller ID, quit harassing me. No I will not be answering your spam calls at 7AM or even 5:31 PM in the afternoon like you did yesterday and when I didn't answer (because I was driving) calling me back again moments later, I really wish I had the power to find your true number & spam you with calls & see how you like it, yeah it wouldn't be fun wouldn't it? Oh right you'd just change your number because your probably either A: Using a Spoofed number so nothing will lead back to you if your number could be found out or two, your using some cheap as chips VOIP provider and will just get your number changed at the click of a button and on your way you go to continuing to annoy the crap out of people.

If it's a telemarketer I wonder why their stupid system hasn't picked up their not going to get to me, usually from what I've read, after x amount attempts to call and never getting through to the person on the other end, the system marks it off as a dead / useless number so you don't get called again.

The fact they called me at 5:31 PM which let's be honest no legitimate Australian business would be calling then and after on the same day just gives me strong vibes it's some telemarketer trying to fleece me even through I won't fall for their stupid scam. Just makes me even frustrated I can't mess with a live agent anymore because they've moved on from a live agent being at the phone when the call is answered to a robot with a prerecorded message being at the phone when it's answered instead.

Great now with that off my chest, I can relax for a bit before my next phone call from them. sigh

100% chance it was "Telstra" "Technical Support" pushing for a $1000 bill credited to a bank account located in India. Scamming is apparently a legitimate business endorsed by the Indian Government, so there's no chance whatsoever of them stopping any time soon.

I know there's no actual connection but funny enough my mobile provider uses Telstra for their mobile network. Your probably right it's one of three scenarios, that, Fake Microsoft or those Chinese embassy callers. Neither of them can be bothered to employ a live agent so I'll do the respectful thing of not picking up their calls :). (I wouldn't answer them like I've already said anyway)

They refuse to leave a message so I'm jokingly sitting back & now saying to myself "Well their in no Hurry to scam me if they can't even leave a simple message, can't be that important". Thank goodness for getting my voicemail issue fixed months ago because now I get an automated message every time I miss a call telling me if a message was left or not (doesn't work on no caller ID calls tho I believe).

They haven't called me today but yesterday did 3 times.

Edit: I'm busting to play the role of "Telstra Fraud & Abuse" like I did years ago with one cold calling mob where I tell them their number has been flagged as a nuisance / fraud caller & the local police have been informed and I will be terminating their connection If they refuse to quit calling people. I highly doubt it will work on the O/S mob but if I can at least put some sort of fear into them, hopefully they'll get the clear hint that I'm a waste of time and not going to be falling for their silly scam.

No problem. I'm going to admit I'm a little guilty as I'm in one of those groups but I cross-post what I post on there back onto my own Facebook page & vice versa (which is public / open, no account needed to see my uploaded content). I'm only part of that one group and that's it, no others. I've only posted one photo there this year as I've been busy other times, usually I'll just upload it to my own page or here in the NSW section.

As I've already long mentioned, I missed out being here in 2006 - 2014 when there was a lot more active content & photo sharing here, a lot of people use to be keen on the various Mercedes bodied PMC buses that were still in service at the time as well as random bus photos. All we have left is a few contributors, the numbers have sadly gone down and waiting to see what gets posted next is like watching paint dry, you don't know how long it's going to be until the paint dries (in the sense of you don't know when someone else is next going to be posting content here). Going through the historical posts there was a few notable members from my area around between the years I mentioned above. I'm not sure if Newcastle Flyer still posts content anywhere but that might just leave me left as the only person on this board posting content from my area.

Not going to lie, there was a lot more variety years ago, the olders ones are drying up and when you see the bus companies get new buses, you can't tell them apart from another operator because on the outside they look exactly the same because TNSW livery. Sometimes the older days are better than the new.

Unfortunately a lot of enthusiast's groups are kept private with membership kept under lock and key due to numerous incidents over the years of enthusiast staff members being thrown under the bus by other individuals, even when they had done nothing wrong.

That is partly why participation here has declined, any old person can read these forums. Additionally, there have been instances of some very sad individuals outside the realm of bus operators (i.e. not the companies or those they employ) monitoring these forums to play a game of 'thought police' (those fools know who they are!)...

Thanks Merc1107 for clearing that up, I guess I was a bit ignorant but I just always assumed that because Facebook is the bigger platform & all your friends, family and communities are all on there in the one place it's why people have flocked off from other platforms like here to just simply posting on Facebook & that's it.

I really don't like Facebook as it is, the only reason I have it is for my public page, I highly doubt I would've made a lot of progress without it in a way, I've definitely picked up the audience even if they aren't really active when I post content. I've had others share stuff to me that I'd otherwise have never known about or anyone else on here (this board) would be aware of.

I can't stand social media sites like Facebook and Twitter, I wouldn't be seen dead on them. I don't even have a Reddit account, and that seemed to be the more sane platform of the three (others like Discord or Skype don't appeal to me either).

And then at the opposite end of the scale there's the joke that is tdu.to, which still operates like we're in 1996 (postage stamp sized photos and all, although some photos are actually a decent size so it must be up to the person who uploads them). Good luck trying to read messages and replies when they are interleaved all over the place because different topics are posted simultaneously by a hundred other people, and they aren't sorted or filtered at all so you can't tell if the topic or the replies are about 1980s Melbourne or 1930s Brisbane or the Canberra light rail or someone's trip to Helsinki unless you click on them.

Wish I could agree, but forcing a Google+ account down everyone's throat a decade ago was the reason I abandoned the platform back then. The site's gone to s&#t anyway, it's dead slow, the video fights with the rest of the page loading on less-powerful PCs (which then causes Google to automatically drop you to 240p or 144p because Google blames the user's hardware and never their crappy coding, so you have to manually set it back to high-res again) and even when it has fully loaded it still pauses 3/4 of the way through a video to buffer despite having 1mbps+ download speeds (a YouTube downloader app will download the file in mere seconds, or maybe a couple of minutes if it's a long video).

Drivers (of any vehicle) who drive as if they have all the time in the world. Perhaps you do, perhaps you don't, but all I know is that I have another bus to catch within a ~1 minute window. Please realise that you aren't the only person on this road.
I'd post any important, bus-related links I had, but they're outdated anyways.

Speaking of drivers, what on earth is wrong with people around here? Apparently now it's fine & dandy to use the shoulder lane of the road if traffic is banked up, I've had a look through the NSW road rules and can't see anything for using the shoulder lane but surely it's a traffic offense of some sort?

Image

Take for example this road, yesterday It was banked up in both lanes on this side, the goody-two-shoe drivers (some) thought it would be cool & dandy to cut down the shoulder lane, as you get further down this road there is a left turning lane. The people driving down the shoulder lane in this instance would be cutting those off who wish to make the left turn as they get further down the road & are playing by the road rules,

Forget booking people speeding 5KM's over the limit, this is the real issue Highway Patrol needs to be tackling, it's not just here but other parts of this area.

Edit: This video sums up my case

I have dashcam footage of various drivers (including a bus from a certain local depot) cutting down the shoulder lane and I should probably submit that to a Dashcam channel but knowing I'll send in one to one channel and it won't get published in their weekly series (for whatever silly reason) and the other where the audience has the IQ of a 6 year old doesn't fill me with much hope. I've seen less interesting clips still make it but mine doesn't?

I was thinking of starting my own local Dashcam channel to manage on the side of my Transport channel but Youtube requires phone verification to enable thumbnails & longer than 15 minute videos and I'm not too sure how that would work since my number has already been used for my main account.

  • The return of the lockdown - Although, Ive always supported Dan Andrews' health first response to the pandemic but The Announcement about return of lockdown was a bit too sudden for me but I can umderstand why but its quite annoying as i live in a regional area and we're already paying the price for border closures because of stuffups in the big cities like Sydney or Melbourne. The Mutant UK strain of Covid may have spread to where I live so i definitely believe that regional victoria joining in is a little bit reasonable. Hopefully more tests come and we can crush the virus.

Well actually that I didn't think of, always thought once I've used a mobile number to verify one channel, it wouldn't accept the same number for another channel. I suppose Google / Youtube knows there are a lot of Youtubers (not all but a lot) out there that would have multiple channels & not another number handy so I suppose it makes sense tho they would obviously have some sort of limit in place to prevent abuse.

It'll be more better if under the same email address you didn't need to verify your new channel if there's already a verified channel on that same email account.

+ The same aboriginal girl AGAIN claiming she hasn't got any money (Opal card) to pay for her fare. I knew even before she got onto the bus she was going to say she hasn't got money to pay the fare.

Should be no fare, no travel (unless for a valid reason), but if the driver denied her travel, she may have pulled the "race card" out.

+ Several passengers all with scooters also not tapping on.
