Covid-19
Re: Covid-19
At 3.03 the WHO woman says a mask reduces the risk of spreading any virus to one thirty sixth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QZWk2dms_U
It is great we now have a factory in Sydney that can make four million a month. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qurzvljzM-Q
I think it would be worth stockpiling heaps as it surely could be classed as defence.

Re: Covid-19
Yesterday Bunnings had a variety of masks for sale 10 for $10 and if you only want to wear it in case you unknowingly have it and do not want to spread it you only need one

Re: Covid-19
Initially the world health organization thought just heavy droplets transmitted the virus but as we have seen in our nursing homes airborne transmission is even worse. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1JEbx9NY2I
We must put aside our pride and all wear a cheap mask in public to protect others.

Re: Covid-19
Remember that only surgical masks worn with the coloured part on the outside can stop virus droplets, a washable cloth mask is only good for dirt particles.
Re: Covid-19
At 2.45 the doctor says even a cloth mask can reduce the spread by one thirty sixth https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QZWk2dms_U
At 8 minutes he says the best mask cannot filter out small particles https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1JEbx9NY2I

According to this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0AoRkmj9YM
There were 4 waves and just a simple handkerchief mask could reduce transmission enormously.

Wonder if more people would use the train if masks were compulsory https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australi ... p-BB18rqGc

I'd be less likely to use public transport in that case.eddy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2020 2:17 pm Wonder if more people would use the train if masks were compulsory https://www.msn.com/en-au/news/australi ... p-BB18rqGc

Re: Covid-19
That's a bit of a false sense of security, as the primary benefit of wearing a mask is it significantly reduces the risk of you spreading COVID-19 to other people. It doesn't remove most of the risk of you getting it from someone else.
Most of the trains that I've used any time lately have been quiet enough that there has been no issue with social distancing. I'd rather not be forced to wear an uncomfortable mask whilst I've got the whole train to myself for the entire journey (which happened to me about a month ago from Campbelltown to Moss Vale!) for the fear of getting a fine.

Unfortunately most Aussies don't get it.

Spot on the cold hard cash Eddy. Aussies could learn a lot from Asians in good manners and thoughtfulness.

Here in the philippines, all public transport users have to wear a face mask and a face shield, including the driver and conductors of the buses and Jeepneys.

What if the last carriage is for mask users only so those of us who are vulnerable can feel safer.

Re: Covid-19
Public transport is a backbone of local and national economy and an essential service to be maintained as long as reasonable. As of now, the COVID-19
outbreak has not been declared a pandemic, but as we see cases confirmed in a growing number of countries, the situation in any region can change rapidly.
Preparedness is thus the most helpful measure at this stage in most places. It is important to follow the information given by WHO, staying in close contact with the national health organisations and authorities and following their guidelines.

The WHO lost a lot of creditability by being in bed with China covering it up in the first place and then advising against face maskselisecoen wrote: ↑Fri Sep 04, 2020 6:48 pm Public transport is a backbone of local and national economy and an essential service to be maintained as long as reasonable. Like the pandemic 100 years ago it seems to be going away and maybe it is time to slowly return to normal however please wear a simple face mask to protect others like the Asians do.

Re: Covid-19
If the virus behaves the same as the 1917 one the third wave is very minor before going completely, so by the time a vaccine is released we all may have immunity anyway but it would be wise to wear a mask on public transport to protect others.

Re: Covid-19
The bus industry is a real case of split personality on Covid. The route service and school contract sector has been relatively unaffected with most employment and service delivery maintained. Drivers are obviously at some risk but mask use and reduced nos of pax seem to have managed or mitigated the risk. Fortunately we have not the instances of driver bashing seen in some European countries and most recently in Israel.
By contrast the school charter and inbound tourist sector operators have been completely smashed with many fleets put into hibernation and staff relying on jobkeeper. Some noise has been made about this in WA back in June and more recently in Victoria. I understand NSW will be making some noise in the near future.

As printing money is really borrowing off the kids perhaps some thought could be given to open air excursions like a zoo or even Ayers rock perhaps involving an idle plane.1whoknows wrote: ↑Mon Sep 07, 2020 9:18 am The bus industry is a real case of split personality on Covid.
