Re: Covid-19
This pandemic could of been avoided early on but to do that we have to pinpoint the exact moment when authorities in Wuhan declared that large clusters in the city where becoming outbreaks. If they took the patient zero cluster in Wuhan with more urgency and did a better job dealing with that cluster then we wouldn't be where we are now

If you have work commitments and you don’t care enough to wear a mask on a train to protect others, I really doubt that you would get a virus test unless you felt crook.

Re: Covid-19
Even though I do not bother about any normal flu vaccine I do believe in the really bad ones for everybody to eliminate them but this brings me to the problem that even if most countries have a mandatory needle for the bad ones what if one country doesn’t.

Re: Covid-19
If COVID-19 spreads for a few days before there are symptoms and some people who cannot afford to home stay while waiting for results do not get tested, I suggest that random testing is done in NSW on anybody driving trucks at appropriate places to stay ahead of the game rather than waiting to end up like Victoria.

Re: Covid-19
In the coal mine they used to say that you will not find gas if you do not look for it.
As COVID-19 can be spread before any symptoms, random checks should be done on trucks in NSW to avoid a Victoria type lockdown.
True they will continue on their way but at least NSW would be ahead of the game.

Re: Covid-19
That's not how flu vaccines work. They usually target certain strains, usually four, for a particular season. It's not that one is particularly more virulent and you get innoculated for that one.
Re: Covid-19
Thanks for the response however I believe smallpox, measles and perhaps some other big ones that are easily transferrable with terrible consequences should be compulsory but others like aids or minor ones where the vaccine is only half effective should not be.

It is important to do all your shopping/business before you go for a virus test because you have to go straight into isolation for a few days after.
I found out the hard way after I had a test at Bega and the dogs ran out of food.

That's not at all how it should or does work. You show symptoms, you go get a test (especially in hotspots) and isolate. There are ways for you to still get your groceries if you are having to isolate (supermarket online delivery, having family/friends/neighbours deliver or just having ample food supply in your house in the first place).
There's no reason why you should be compromising the health of your community just because you need to get dog food.

I suppose every person has to have enough money to keep a couple of weeks supplies at their farm all the time.Cazza wrote: ↑Mon Oct 26, 2020 6:44 pm That's not at all how it should or does work. Interesting that I went to a few places with a phone scan on the door and dummies like me who do not know how to do it just walked right in.
While trying to understand how to do it I found this American video that says they have just put some tracking device on every phone https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JXrULCpKL94

Re: Covid-19
As few people use or even know how to use scanning their phone I suggest random checking of cars would be a good idea for NSW when the Victoria border is opened.

Re: Covid-19
Since NSW now has more cases than Victoria perhaps it is the NSW cars in Victoria that should be checked.

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
I don't understand why they don't hand out masks as a way of encouraging people to wear them and really push the message along the lines of "Your mask protects others. Their masks protect you." If only relatively few people wear masks, mask wearers have greatly less protection. It's not a personal liberties issue. If you want (or rather need) to ride on public transport a mask is part of the fare just as we expect and enforce civil behaviour between passengers.
Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
They cost around $.20-$.30 each in bulk, the costs would add up very quickly. That's the sole reason.

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
Even if they were free, many people wouldn't wear them "on principle". Make them compulsory, and end up with protests/riots like Melbourne.
It seems to be being contained pretty well with the current level of usage. I carry masks, but only think about using them if my ride is crowded.

Re: Opal Discussion and Observations
I doubt we'll see "protests / riots" because of masks being made compulsory, England and United states residents have no problems wearing them and really the only people chucking the grumps over being forced to use masks are your conspiracy theorists / anti mask wearers.
I use mine when going into public or on public transport. Unfortunately if you read some of the recent posts in the lunch room it's clear people still aren't getting the message and are still continuing to sneeze / cough into the open.
Edit: About costs too I partly buy it but don't buy it 100%, while this is off topic all I will state is that the Government has plenty of money to wash away on less important things & nothing is said but apparently when it comes to the real important issue suddenly it's a cost problem and can't be done or only in a limited small amount that's so small you might as well not even have bothered doing anything.

Re: Covid-19
It is a big term "anti-vaxers" as I believe definately the easy ones to get should be compulsury in every country but not the simple flue or something like aids but then what do you do if every country has a different list.
If the general population saw the devestating results of polio or smallpox there would be no need to make anything compulsury.
Evidently if any mother wants any welfare support their child has to have 12 things now in NSW but then there are only a couple of countries in the world that let you go on a highway with a bike as long as you have a hat ha ha.
