Mercedes gearbox type

Hi,

Bought a 92 Merc OH1418, with 6 spd manual last December, to convert to a motorhome.

The box takes some getting used to, as it's more suited to a European LHD.

Anyone know what box is used in these German built chassis, Custom Coaches bodied machines?

THIs is a standard merc coach gearbox 6 speed We have a coach with same motor and manual gearbox have manual if you require plus details

Looks like a truck gearbox turned around the other way for the rear engine application, but they haven't adapted the linkages.

I HAVE A SIX SPEED ZF GEARBOX MANUAL IF IT IS NOT A ZF I DO HAVE ANOTHER TYPE LET ME KNOW THAT WAS USED IN COACHES

could your motor be a 303 v8 other gear boxes could be rank or allison

It's the OM366.

to get a correct gearbox first I need to know the motor type is it a standard Mercedes straight motor or a v8 the motor connection is what type you need if not a ZF it could be Renk or US gearbox make

Guy, yes, it's a straight Merc engine (OH1418 with an OM366A engine (180hp)) with a six speed manual gearbox.

Yes, she's a Custom Coaches, built here, of course. That's all the info I have, other than the engine type that I mentioned.

NEED SOME ONE LOCAL TO SEE WHAT IS MARKED ON YOUR GEARBOX

Guy, the bus model, OH1418, always had the OM366 engine installed, an underpowered 180HP. The 1418 came out with both the 5 and 6 speed boxes.

The O303, O404, etc had different engines.
I'll see if can find the gearbox manual elsewhere.
