The RG1J is the Hino internal model nomenclature for the RG230. If you cannot look up info using the RG1J model, look up RG230

Nope - RG1J was the internal model designation from Hino.... the RG230 model is what the public knows the RG1J as

That squeaky front suspension makes them sound third world and those inboard front wheels! How embarrassing.

On the plus side they're quiet and smooth, reliable and perform well with an Allison automatic (keeps it in it's power band). Rear engined and good on fuel.

Perusing the fleet list for Clarke Coaches of Hornsby, I notice that with their now withdrawn Motorcoaches, and their currently operational Denning Gold Phoenix units, there is some commonality in their VIN numbers.

I am puzzled by how this could be.

The first portion of a VIN number relates to the manufacturer of the vehicle, then the model designation, then the serial number.

I am not aware of any connection between Motorcoach and (the later) Denning organisations.

Does anybody know why this is so?
