Oh, mate! Well done! She looks fantastic. I bet it turned more than a few heads as you drove it in the yard.

It looks terrific. Seeing 339 in that livery reminds me just how well it suited 0305s. IMO, it's the best livery they ever wore. So, well done for getting it done AND for your excellent choice of livery.

Looks fantastic Leigh - well worth the effort. Top marks to you.

Re: SCOOP! MTT 339 is here
In Herbert's pictures 339 has a radio transmitter picture in the top left. I am wondering what was this for?
Also how much work is involved in turning this bus back into its former glory as I am now thinking about doing this for an ACTION bus when I retire. So it will probably be one of the Renaults that is in work now or a MAN.

Payback is a bitch, but is fun to watch.

I asked this question awhile ago and got told it is to say that the bus is fitted with a 2-way radio.TP 3000 wrote:In Herbert's pictures 339 has a radio transmitter picture in the top left. I am wondering what was this for?

Nice job there, maybe if an Adelaide 0305 ever gets preserved then there can be an Australian Merc 0305 club , love to see a get together with a WA, SA & NSW 0305

Re: SCOOP! MTT 339 is here
I'd certainly like to see an Adelaide O305G preserved.
Regarding the radio transmitter sticker, Desto is correct. In this cab view of 339 you can see the microphone stalk, the striped cover to the emergency switch on the floor under the dash, and the call request box attached to the top right of the dash near the windscreen. Some O305s retained this box even after the radio system was upgraded - I wonder if 339 still has it?
The MTT's call-sign was VL6MT & it was a closed channel. If the driver wanted to communicate, he/she pressed the black button on the control box. One beep was heard to indicate that a request has been sent, then shortly afterwards another single beep to indicate the request had been received by base. When the base initiated contact, a series of STD-type beeps indicated to the driver that the channel was open. Another floor mounted button (concealed by the cash tray in the above photo) was used when the driver transmitted. Next to it was a sign labelled "PTT" which simply meant "Press to transmit".

Re: SCOOP! MTT 339 is here
Thanks all.
Herb, the call request box has been removed however from memory the PTT sticker is still in place.
339 is parked at Joondalup however I NEED to find a secure location. Recent vandalism has made me very nervous. I have done my best to park it in a well lit, well observed area.
I can't wait to get the logos on it and display it at the Classic Car Show.
Will, the rego reads MTT 339 and will soon sport an 'HISTORIC' plate fixture under a concessional licence for club events and "test runs". So I cannot carry fare paying passengers.
tp3000, alot of researching the particular livery and getting as many pics to make comparisons. We did have a hard time getting colour codes but with perserverance and playing around with colour charts we got there. It's also very handy to be involved with enthusiast groups with a wealth of knowledge, tips, and supplies.
Alot of hard work has gone into this by the painter himself as he knew it was something special.
Regards
Leigh.

Re: SCOOP! MTT 339 is here
G'day guys,
Does anyone remember if the front of the bulkhead that separates the front door and the first row of passenger seating was painted WHITE in the MTT days?
Regards,
Dave

I believe the fibreglass armrests for the rear 'sofa' were also originally white, prior to be painted dark grey.
Cheers!

Great stuff Leigh. She looks amazing!
If I remember Correctly 426 still had a call box in it so if that's still at the sWAn Transit training school, you might be in luck.
