Re: TfNSW data feed for real time apps
thanks - not sure what the issue is with displaying the fleet numbers? Unless of course the operators have been lying to their insurers about operations or making dodgy assertions to advertisers (via the agent) about how long buses actually spend on the road. Still struggling to think of a legitima...

MAN Chassis Type/Platform codes Note: I will be using the terms “chassis type” and “platform” interchangeably below. This is to supplement what is given on the first page of this thread. On the first page of this thread, the nomenclature of the specific MAN bus models has been given. Two examples o...

Re: Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this vehicle?
Is anyone able to give me some feedback regarding this one? This clip is of the same bus, but with different mechanical issues, recorded in 2012. I'm very curious about it, since the sound is weird, but actually sort of unique. http://www.mediafire.com/download/565re14orpk9wqo/2558+%285%29.mp3 Soun...

Re: Introducing OPAL Card
Previously, it was calculated in stages (though, a stage in Singapore is shorter than a section in Sydney) for buses and distances for trains, and fares were calculated separately with a transfer rebate to compensate the inconvenience of transfers, a legacy from the days of magnetic fare cards. Did...

Re: Introducing OPAL Card
In the case people do tap off at an earlier stop than their actual one, another person would have inccured a default fare unintentionally. That person whp incurred the default fare and not asked for a fare adjustment, in eccense would have compensated for the other person who abused the system. The...

The remaining Bustech 'SBV''s to be delivered are for Tamworth. Buslines Group will take delivery of three new MAN RR- 19 320 buses with Bustech "SBV" bodies which be delivered to Ballina & Picton. Which it is the first time since 1991 that Buslines Group has purchased new MAN's… Is t...

Re: Deckers For Transdev
Jus a suggestion why not put a CDI body on a chasis and call it a CDV(Volvo). If Transdev were to buy their new deckers on Volvo chassis, the likelihood of it being a B5TL Euro VI chassis instead of a B9TL Euro V chassis would be pretty high as I believe Volvo Buses is set on winding up B9TL produc...

Re: NSW Future Rail Plan - NWRL/Metro/Harbour Crossing
Because public transport has always been about feeding those locations. Hence my point. Build metro like capacity to where you want people to end up and plan to house them around it, instead of planning to funnel them 40km away. Goes against what they teach in planning courses, unless of course you...

Re: Transdev Melbourne news January - June 2014
Give the 220s a massive horsepower boost. 16.220 = 16 ton chassis with a 220hp engine? That's disgraceful. Make it a 16.340 then more horsepower = less work for the engine = less overheating. But I guess that would cost a lot of money... 12.220 = converted to 12.270 14.220 = converted to 14.290 15....

Re: Daily Telegraph - rushed bus drivers’ safety warning
Anyone notice the Telegraph left out the North Shore as one of Transdev's areas? Seems abit rich to fine a bus company for not doing the impossible. The government should try harder to improve the passage of the bus services routinely held up at traffic jam black spots instead of burdening the comp...

Re: Introducing OPAL Card
I am very interested to see how Opal will relate to the rail replacement - it won't be long until all buses are fitted with it - but what it will mean for people with no cards (maybe drivers will need to start taking cash fares, which a lot won't be happy about) and how it will calculate the distan...

As a kid, our family car was a 1936 Chevrolet. The chassis & running gear was made by General Motors and the body was made by the Holden Body Works company in South Australia. It had a Holden badge on it on the left hand mudguard down behind the front wheel just above the running board. Eventua...

Love it! Although I must say part of the attraction of the 80 Bustechs is that it represents 80 fewer fugly CB80s running around Sydney! Let's hope Customs have a new design by the time they win another contract  Also if the STA wants to fill in the spare fleet numbers (which I'm guessing is h...
