Re: Introducing OPAL Card
It's a bit disappointing how little marketing is going on for these buses. It just seems like a program destined to fail, even though it's clearly a good idea.

State Transit vids
State Transit has uploaded some interesting vids to Vimeo. There's the history of State Transit plus what appears to be a couple of vids designed for internal use (like fire extinguisher and evacuation procedure):

I'd expect the operator to say "huh? no we don't give out that information bye bye".VivalaBuses wrote:May be worthwhile giving Hillsbus a call and asking which services are scheduled for the DD on that weekend - (02) 9890 0000 is the number.

Re: STA Privatisation / Franchising
Though I was wondering STA should of been smart for example today like run the m10 only as far Railway Sq then provide more buses along Parra Rd. instead of running all the way to Maroubra there are enough Anzac Pde services. You really think workers at other State Transit depots would assist in st...

Ticket to Sydney - film
Some GREAT footage of Sydney in 1972. Includes some great shots of old buses too. It's been posted here before, but the new high definition scan the National Film and Sound Archive has just uploaded looks absolutely stunning.

Re: Newcastle light rail, renewal & integrated transport
I was in Newcastle a few weeks after the train service was removed. The shuttle bus ran a bit late, so the train left as we pulled into the station. So myself and a bunch of other people on that bus had to wait another hour for the bloody train. You'd think they'd have had the presence of mind to im...

Re: Trackless Tram for Parramatta Rd
In my opinion, the idea is perfectly sound. It would combine the benefits of a very long articulated vehicle with the flexibility of a bus. The only problem is that the tech isn't quite there yet. It will be, probably in 10 years or so. But then when the tech is developed, there will be no need for ...

I'll bet $5 that they eventually say "we're widening the tunnel" and end up removing the bus lanes to provide three general traffic lanes in each direction, eventually.

If it's NBN FTTP, it's almost certainly the fault of TPG. No Liberal Party meddling could have given you speeds that low on FTTP (if you had FTTN then you might have something to complain about). Generally speaking, you get what you pay for on the NBN. E.g. If you pay Telstra $100 a month for 100GB,...

Buses operating through flooded roads
While I was in traffic during the storms yesterday, I noticed a heck of a lot of buses that were ploughing through some fairly deep water. I noticed an artic was totally stopped in the middle lane of a road with its hazard lights on after the water level had risen considerably across the entire widt...

In Sydney the main (unofficial) car enthusiast meet is at Krispy Kreme outlet at Liverpool on a Saturday night. I went to that BP on Eastlink (not on Saturday though) and thought it was massive, but evidently not large enough for the crowd though. Reading the posts on Facebook, it was mainly shut do...

I wonder if Gladys will keep riding the bus to Macquarie Street if she gets the job. Very few people actually know who she is, and she's kept a fairly low media profile recently. She didn't even have Twitter or Facebook until a year or so ago. I've been pretty disgusted with the amount of abuse and ...

The Facebook page of his family's winery has a post from late August 2013 showing him back on his family's winery in California. Not sure how long these appeals drag on for, but assuming it wasn't successful and he served the 6 month minimum it would mean that a decision was handed down within two m...

I use BP Ultimate 98 in my 2003 Toyota Camry Altise - I get anywhere from 520km up to 560km a week out of 3/4 of a tank... have tried Shell V-Power and Caltex Vortex 98 but they did not seem to last as long! I believe what you use is up to you - it's a hard thing to justify each of the fuels and ho...

Yes an Opel design, but at least it was built by Aussies and had Aussie drivetrains and designed for Aussie roads. This "built for Australian conditions" marketing stuff is totally meaningless. It implies that Australia is the only place in the world where potholes, unsealed roads and high temperat...

I think they'd be able to put full sized LCD screens in the ceilings at the end of the carriage decks (it might even end up being cheaper than dot matrix displays these days). What would be great would be a video link between the guard's compartment and the carriage. If people start using the seats ...

I wonder if it will last more than 60 years this time around? I think you could have a line running down Banks Avenue to Westfield Eastgardens, then joining Bunnerong Road at Westfield Drive and running south down to La Perouse.

Yeah, there's very little chance of that happening. They didn't withdraw the first polymer notes just because they didn't work with note counting machines.
