Re: Longer and Heavier trucks for Sydney's road
Only new or modified trucks which have an extra row of wheels at the back are permitted to carry the extra loads, I believe.

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
Good riddance to the parking on Anzac Parade in Kingsford. It has always XXX me to no end to drive down Anzac Parade in the left lane and get constantly held up by dickheads pulling XXX while looking for parking. Constant double parking, people pulling out without looking, and cars crawling along at...

The UTS researcher is wrong about the reason in the spike in fines - it's not caused by the abolition of windscreen stickers, it's caused by the large rollout of police number plate recognition systems. At almost every RBT now you see highway patrol cars sitting at the end with their cameras running...

Re: Light rail gets the green light: stage 1 UNSW to CBD
No subways - all at grade crossings. Bunnerong Road services will not use the cross platform transfers - pedestrians will have to walk to the Anzac Parade-Rainbow Street intersection to cross the road. I suggested that buses be diverted up Botany Street so they could use the cross platform transfers...

The Newcastle bus system is already Sydney's living bus museum, so probably not a bad idea.

Re: Half price Holden ?
You've basically described the concept of Kickstarter. The entrepreneur requests an amount of funding, which people pledge towards the project (Kickstarter holds the funds until the funding goal is reached), with no ironclad guarantee that the seller actually deliver. You would need a lot more than ...

Re: Water Fountains/Refill Stations on Trains
I'm not suggesting that anything was out of the ordinary, but surely at staffed stations they can leave the dunny doors unlocked before witching hour. I find central toilets very scummy, even with the recent renovations. So maybe in scummy areas such as fairfield, they keep them locked Perhaps a sy...

Re: Loftus Tram Museum
Just a question about the level crossing at Loftus - it seems that a hell of a lot of people continue travelling through even though the lights are flashing. It seems that a heck of a lot of people are willing to drive through level crossings while the lights are flashing, but pretty much all cars w...

Those escalators are about 90 years old. They were the first escalators in Australia, installed at the temporary Milsons Point interchange during construction of the Harbour Bridge in 1923, and transferred to Wynyard in 1932.

I saw 2751 operating on the 301 southbound around 2pm at Waterloo....The front desto is annoyingly small; I could barely see the number 301. Yup, I noticed this today on multiple buses with LED destos. It appears that the desto file for the flip disc displays have been loaded on these, resulting in...

Re: Cashless buses - opinion
It is surprising how cashless some societies are becoming. When I visit NZ I can go the entire time, truly, without spending any cash, you can use your VISA for a $3 muesli bar with no quibbles. When I get off the plane back in Sydney and order a $9.80 burger in trendy Surry Hills it is "Sorry Sir,...

Number 2 probably will be implemented within the next year or so. I think Cubic released a press release or some portfolio thing which said that the Opal system was designed to work with contactless payment cards. I think they're holding off for the introduction of contactless EFTPOS for bank keycar...

Several instances of queuing across intersections by bloody taxis causing blockages on York and Clarence Streets. They will need those police officers on the ...

Loved it!
The Mk1 O305 wasn't getting much love from the passengers (probably too new to be appreciated!), but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
